  1. Do i need to remove the housing? Pretty sure i can sneak the old out and new on without disturbing the pan and housing. Plus the housing has studs so would have to drop the whole pan for clearance?
  2. Update: ke70 5 speed. Took out the 4 speed and found my tunnel cut and cross member drilled already so at some point someone put a 5 in it and then swaped a 4 back in which is weird. Here is a pic looks like rear main leaking
  3. Awesome help thanks guys! I'm upgrading from a 4 speed to a 5 speed tonight so ill start with checking the rear seal and making sure everything is tight. Awesome pics btw.
  4. I have a 79 Ke55 and the oil pan gasket is leaking. Do i need to lift the motor to swap it out or can i get the pan out around the cross member?
  5. Hi Guys, I have a 79 KE55 and recently picked up a pair of 1 1/4 su's for it. I have done some digging on this forum and see that unless i build a "Tough" K motor that they won't be any good with a stock setup? Does that still ring true?
  6. Hi Banjo Thanks for the quick Reply. yup I'm here in Sydney Australia. Its RHD. Its a no rust car and looks to be all original paint no signs of damage or respray anywhere. I will take some more pics this weekend when I pull the cluster to fix that pesky voltage regulator and smarten up my dash (as you can tell i have been reading the forums). Cheers Tim
  7. Hi Guys. I bought a 1979 KE55 (according to the vin) and trying to figure out if I have a hybrid KE30/KE55. The front nose has the round headlights of a KE30 and the Corolla SE emblem on both front fenders. I haven't been able to find where on the engine it is stamped 4k-c or 4k-j but guess it doesn't matter as it could of been swapped out over its life. Is there any way of telling what i have so i can find parts accurately? Thanks
  8. Hi Guys, First I'm new to the Club as I just bought my first Corolla. Its a 1979 Ke55 Sedan. I am trying to figure out the best anchors for putting a child seat in the back. I have been looking at the ford focus ISO Fix bottom anchor and just the standard anchor for the top. Has anyone here tried to install this before and knows it works or can point me in the direction of something that will?
