  1. well there are certain criteria that I look for in this case. I could get a good grade 4.5 R32 GTR for under $20k from some connection and it would be incomparable to a $22k Corolla Sportivo 2ZZ-GE but what I'm looking for now isn't anything like just for performance, but more to a practical car with a bit of power in it and thankfully I could afford a Corolla Sportivo the one I dreamed of few years back. its the same as my previous Fairlady 300ZX VG30DETT for $13k with full body kit and some mods could trash most V8 and mostly R32-R33 GTS/-T but isn't really what I'm looking for after some careful thought. in regards of trashing the car, I wouldn't want to trash my car a lot and just driving for fun within appropriate way of driving it. coz I have been pulled over along with my friend and accused of racing just because my 300ZX's twin 3" exhaust was really loud and would draw attention from miles away and driving side by side with R33 automatically seems like racing or intention to race and accused of something that I did not commit which is reckless driving under hoon law. but anyway the trial still postponed long way in coming March and surely I will win the case coz its just stupid. I wouldn't want to spend too much money on car in which eventually depreciate with wear&tear but just doing something for self interest. I just started to get into these things and will not do anything big untill I fully understand the importance of each steps and process. so with the VAFC stand alone, meaning independent and could be fitted regardless? or is there some preliminary requirement for it to work properly?
  2. whats what I was thinking with AVCR coz VVTL-i works in a similar way with V-TEC where power kicks in at high rev. any recommendation for places to go with this kind of stuff? since I wouldn't be able to do it myself and thinking of going to Top Racing for all the works with Uncle Lee. I also just found out to have a full TRD conversion just for the parts alone excluding shipping, installation, labor would cost me $5,800ish... that kind of number looks like just forget it to me -.-;; probably 50%-60% conversion would be more feasable and I also would forget about supercharging it since $3495 in US$ for the SC main assembly and installation kit. non-discounted price would cost $4,495~ish which is a big NO!-NO! for just a single upgrade. Turbo would be the way to go I guess and will see what I can do in the mean time.
  3. wohooo I just found out to get and for the mechanical LSD for this particular car can cost up to $2k or maybe more and doesn't really makes a big differences without much power puts into it so thats probably will be out of the list.. now I will try to stick closely to the plan and starts quotting and enquiring price associated to each parts. 1. Sports air filter ($108.00) 2. High response muffler Ver.S {approximately together maybe } 3. Exhaust manifold for 2ZZ-GE {cost somewhere ~$1,200-$1,400} 4. Complete Tower Bar (front top bottom & rear) (~$240.00) 5. Suspension member brace 6. Brake Pad front&rear 7. Complete Fuel system (~$300.00) 8. Sports Thermosat, Sports Oil Filter and Radiator Cap 9. TRD 1.8L Supercharger kit (MP62 ~$3,495 US? need some more info) and also I would like to ask if with AVCR, can it reset the VVT LIFT points instead of kicks in at 7,000 RPM maybe somewhere around 4,000 or 4,500 RPM? coz to reach up to 7,000 RPM where the LIFT kicks in, it takes way too long and I would be speeding like hell before I can even feel the boost. so instead of going all the troubles of supercharging or turbocharging it, I could play around it. Probably if its possible, the Stroker kit for 1.8L to 2.0L conversion is available for 2ZZ and it might be worth considering and if it turns out to be a cheaper alternative with similar amount of power gain, then I might consider. coz with turbocharge, if I ever got into trouble of going through pits, it might be hard to get away with it. not sure abt supercharge. I seen some Honda Jazz turbo around Willetton and looks awesome with nice body kit and front mount intercooler. tempted to do the same with sportivo but see how it goes first. any info that u could share with me regarding the above enquiries would be greatly appreciated guys :y:
  4. sorry for the late introduction. name: Adi occupation: Student and looking for part time or casual past ride: 2003 Toyota Echo - 2002 Toyota Corolla Conquest - 2003 Honda CR-V - 1990 Fairlady 300ZX Z32 VG30DETT present ride: 2004 Toyota Corolla Sportivo 2ZZ-GE mods: 100% stock. Future plan will either be: 50%-60% TRD conversion |OR| TRD Supercharger (0062-17620-102 or PTR01-02041-15) |OR| Turbocharger (Garret GT2560R or TD04 WRX turbo + kit) |OR| if I don't have a decent job to save up some cash then just AVCR to reset the LIFT point and some minor mods.
  5. with the TRD conversion, it all can be done according to the steps. it does not require anything else other than what listed there, so fuel system can be left stock. with the Supercharger, the kit include all the necessary stuff in it. If I'm not wrong, it include the injector as well so it all comes in batch. so what I want to confirm is if the bolt on SC kit can be installed regardless of everything remain stock. (maybe except air filter and exhaust since I will be doing it shortly) and it can run with the stock ECU and I already confirm it. So the step I was planning to do before supercharging it would be: 1. Sports air filter 2. High response muffler Ver.S 3. Exhaust manifold for 2ZZ-GE 4. Tower Bar 5. Suspension member brace 6. Brake Pad front&rear 7. Mechanical LSD 8. Sports Thermosat, Sports Oil Filter and Radiator Cap 9. TRD 1.8L Supercharger kit correct me if I'm missing anything that should be there or the effective order of it.
  6. wohoo 350hp GT28 is too much of a power for me. I'm looking at a less powerful one prpopbably aiming at the 190-200kw on dyno max if I were to put it in from 141kw standard 2ZZ-GE. (assume there is no other mods done) The thing is I'm not sure if I put a small turbo running at probably max 4-5psi, will the stock engine with stock setting could make it without problems? I would probably do preliminary mods like changing the whole airflow, exhaust manifold and cat, intercooler. I will be looking at minimum mods to be done for a complete functioning turbo'ed car. then in near future, I will put some more work in when possible. whats catching my atention is the TRD Supercharger kit comes with all the stuff I need and best thing is that its BOLT ON :y: I would like to make a quote on how much it will cost in total including shipping. Then how much labor it will required to make a full instalation since I won't be doing it manually myself to reduce risk that I stuff up the thing. I'm getting K&N Panel Air filter next week. Then probably will get the whole TRD exhaust system (bolt on too) at the same time with the SC kit then will install both. It can be run with the factory ECU thats why I'm leaning towards the SC. it might be less in the total cost unlike turbo where I take different things and bits and pieces from anywhere. which is more worth it? complete TRD conversion or added supercharger? the list for TRD parts can be found here http://www.trdparts.jp/english/list_zze.html http://www.toyotaworld.com/trdsupercharger.html with the item code 00602-17620-102 Adding a supercharger then tweak the handling a bit for driving comfort seems to be more interesting to me but any opinion and suggestion always welcome :no2:
  7. yea thx for the loads of information there :ninja: there is one site that offer a complete product range of TRD stuff from the jap's official TRD but couldn't get the link for it :/ I've been looking at the same things but except that its the one directly from japan in english version of it. total approximate of the TRD conversion cost around 550,000 yen which is AUS$4040 with direct money convert and I would assume a full supercharger kit from the TRD USA catallogue would cost somewhere near the same price or even more. I search some bits and pieces if I want to go for turbo, there is one that might fit to 2ZZ-GE description of small displacement of 1.8L like Garret Ball Bearing GT2860R Turbo which offer 250-300hp for 1.8L-2.7L or a smaller one Garret Ball Bearing GT2560R Turbo which offer 200-280hp with smaller displacement 1.6L-2.5L each costing $1805 and $1438 for the smaller one. I don't know how much will it be in the total cost if I were to fit a turbo stage 1 or probably stage 2 if possible instead of the SC kit. I'm quiet cost concious at the moment since I have not yet found a job since I turned down my last one -.-;; try to take a look at these supercharger with the product code PTR01-02041-15 for '04 corolla manual trans and PTR01-12001-15 for spec kit req... I couldn't get the link coz I'm using my friend's computer since my own com's power supply been surging a lot and keep forced shut down randomly. I believe thats the one from the USA TRD catallogue. I have made a list of plan which are the important things to get first and which not to get. a balance between performance and safety mods at the same time. I will try to do more research and ask around once the holiday is over and hope that I would get some answer on what to do best.
  8. by putting the CAI kit, I have to remove the whole air intake box out of the way and replace with those pipes and pod right? I saw the piping and its like a U curve so I thought it would go around the side to the front and it would be seen right through. I also seen the Injen short ram air intake IS2080P which sit just on the right side of the engine. I'll see first how much difference these K&N air filter compared to the stock Denzo one. if it is not noticeable enough, then I would try something else on the performance parts before the handling part. any ideas where to go to tune these kind of car in Perth? thinking of going to Top Speed (Uncle Lee) or KYP (Ben)... and with the TRD SC kit, can I get a genuine one straight from Toyota dealer here in Perth? I doubt it that they couldn't coz there is no TRD specialised dealer here unlike the authorised STI dealers. and the WA / Perth section seems kinda empty -.-;;
  9. yea 141kw seems impressive with the 1,200kg kerbweight but after driving it for a while, having 1 extra person in the car really makes a difference in the driving and LIFT at 6500rpm doesn't feel as much as just 1 person driving it. I research a bit and ask around that 2003 sportivo can be either turbocharged or supercharged. then I narrowed it down to supercharged coz there is no standard turbo set kit which all come in 1 speciffically for this build. TRD offers a supercharger kit made specially for this 1.8L but thats probably the last thing to do. currently I already placed an order for K&N air filter for Celica which might fit right through the air filter box. takes 2 weeks for the item to come. one other thing is that I would like to try to make the car as stock looking as possible so no fancy mods thats obvious such as the cold air induction. I don't know how much difference can the AEM 21-469 Cold Air Induction brings compared with the K&N square air filter. the original drive gives a lot of body roll as it is. I wouldn't change the suspension to a harder or lower one since it would mean sacrifice to the quality of the ride. I'm trying to squezze more power out of it and better handling without degrating the quality of the ride. what I have planned just briefly would be: air filter to give more flow strutbar/swaybar both front and back to enhance handling whole exhaust manifold cat back and muffler together with ECU tuning or aftermarket one then probably bigger brake, injector, front grill then the big question is with the supercharger kit, does forged piston is necessary before this step? and what other thing needs to go before this? coz I think the kit for TRD came with all sort of things that goes with the set... and i seen some sources that its possible to SC it the way it is just need to tune or change the whole ECU.
  10. Hey I'm fairly new here :ninja: since I just bought a 2003 Corolla Sportivo ZZE-123R 100% stock. just want to verify since the dated threat I saw earlier seems pretty spaced up and not that many people around here. it would be good to see many of you around here in near future. btw, I would need help in the project of modding my sportivo from the way it is to a supercharged sportivo or more like a TRD sportivo. it would be a pleasure to get any input and feedback regarding this topic :hmm: few to note that the car is 100% stock so no mods has been done to it and hopefully early next year I can commence the project. btw also this is the first car that I will play around with so I have much things to learn beforehand. I had a 300ZX VG30DETT before this but unfortunately I have to sell it due to certain reasons. well on top of that, I would like to hear any opinion and feedback from any of you here :hmm: I will be looking foward to it ^^
