  1. Gentlemen, Does anyone know if there is a pulsed out put given by 7KE ECU which can be read as engine RPM? if yes, which pin... Thanks for your help...
  2. Thanks Banjo, The Computer box was in very bad shape. So i opened and cleaned it. 10 Connection pin is marked as W. I think this will work. Will try it this week end. I read somewhere that the chk engine light is grounded through this pin. hope i will not burn anything...
  3. Hi Guys, I am looking to fix a check engine light to 7KE Ecu. can you please tell me if E5 pin 10 is the correct pin for the check engine ground? Does anyone have any information on all pin numbers and their purpose? I am not an expert so please pardon. thanks.
  4. Hi again Banjo. I managed to start the 7KE. It works. But the petrol pump does not activate in "ON" position. It works only when cranking and engine running. is this normal for 7KE? Also I am trying to trace the check engine bulb wiring. Does this come from ECU? thanks..
  5. Thanks Banjo. You are a great help. will read these and come back...
  6. Thanks again Banjo. Yes this one had a completely new harness on it built from scratch. It was running fine until i gave it for a paint job to a nearby garage who has messed up the wiring when fixing back. They have messed up my dashboard wiring, burnt a few gauges and I am trying to put it in order by my self. Thank you for the lot of information. I will try checking all of them. I have a concern on the pump control system. I think the petrol pump suppose to come on during "ON" and switch off automatically by the ecu if there is no ignition. I don't think this is working and trying to find out how this engine on signal comes to the ecu. I read somewhere that ecu has to receive NE signal or something. I have no idea what this is. Anyway, I had to replace the fuel pump and right now I am struggling to seal the pump flange on the fuel tank. the gasket has deteriorated badly. as this is a mod, i don't know which unit they have fixed as the pump assembly as the original combination is not having a fuel pump in the tank, a carb model. I am from Sri Lanka and we don't have much DIYers here. So not much help....
  7. Thanks Banjo. I think you are right. I could trace the wires from the sensor on the left directly to the dash board. However, one pin of this sensor was not connected and still it gives reading. So i assume that the body of the sensor is earthed automatically. Will check that also. New ecu is also a good idea. But I have no clue where or howto get one from. Will I be able to use the same sensors and the wiring harness? This engine is fitted to a Suzuki samurai SJ410 a small 4WD jeep.
  8. Hi Guys, I am rewiring a 7KE engine (DIY). I think I can see 2 sensors near the thermostatic valve and would like to know the following. Deeply Appreciate you experts help. 1. How many temperature sensors does 7kE has and where are they located. 2. What is the purpose of them. ( I mean is one for the computer box and other to the dash board, etc...) I have attached a picture. Your support to understand this is very much appreciated.. Thanks..
  9. Thanks Banjo. Let me take a look at this document also. will update you. cheers...
  10. Guys, Has anyone experimented with the communication port of 7Ke computer box? I am interested to know if i could use a laptop to read engine data like from an OBD port? any ideas or experience sharing will be much appreciated. Thanks.
  11. Thank you for the reply. My coil has only 2 wires apart from the HT connection to the distributor and when tested with multi-meter, they show + voltage with chassis ground. But one wire shows a little lower voltage than the other.
  12. Thank you for the explanation.. I guess this is ok then.
  13. Hi Guys, I need to fix an aftermarket RPM meter to 7Ke engine. I am suppose to get the signal wire from ignition but worried that i will burn something out. If someone can help me to select the signal wire will be very much appreciated. It would be wonderful if anyone can share an image of the signal wire from ignition. Cheers.
  14. The 7K-e engine is installed tilted. Due to this the oil drain plug is not at the lowest point in the sump. This makes it difficult to drain all the oil in the sump unless I ramp the left side front wheel by great deal. Is this normal to have the drain plug not at the lowest point in the sump? is this a design failure? Appreciate if someone can help me to understand. Thanks.
  15. Hi Guys, I am having a 7K E engine fitted to a samurai and at the garage while painting they had removed and refitted the wiring harness. Engine works. But there is a component in the wiring that is missing and only i have the "clip" or the mount bracket kinda thing. I remember it to be a round thing sitting inside the bracket. I have included several pictures of the empty bracket and would like your help to identify and replace this. there are several open connectors I am not sure which is which. But i am sure that this bracket had a round thing in it. I was thinking that it could be a resistor or a condenser, may be something related to ignition system??? Appreciate your help if you can share some images and the specs of the unit so that i can buy and fix. Cheers.
