  1. Spotted ke15 out the front of a workshop in braeside yesterday... wonder who owned that :)

silverra23, may have this wrong but do you still own the KE35?

Swear I say it in its racing livery on the back of a tow truck near Tamsworth (country music captial place).

Nearly lost it when I did :laff:

  2. Dave from AJPS got me a strut brace from Japan for my TE71, but thats because its counted as a series one T18, which meant KE70 didnt fit.

The Cusco that came was worth the wait though.

Like the rest said get your bushes done, will make a big difference.

Sounds like you already got some decent tyres.

Personaly I wouldnt go for a rear swaybar, especially an adjustable one, but personally I usually either don't run one or stick with the stock swaybar.

In the T18 I would be looking into a steering rack conversion. Steering box is so crap

  3. Well theres not much that sperates them when you think about it. Personally being bias I would be going a 2TG. Although parts in the future for a 4AGE might be more easily sourced.

Main difference is 4AGE will require an ECU I'm presuming

Would the 4AGE need cams straight up to make the most of the ITB's? Along with proper tuning I'm guessing (Sorry haven't had much experince with 4AGE's :laff: )

  4. Since you (without sounding rude) don't know a heep yet heres a good option.

Keep the 3TC. Get some extractors, electric fuel pump, thermo fan, twin Webers and maybe a mild cam. It will have plenty of torque and will love to rev. And sounds great.

Run that for a while, get use to it, keep things simple. And more importantly save some money while having fun.

With the money saved / time your spending having fun, build up a 4AGTE with an AE71 crossmember to bolt straight in for the future.

  5. Theres not really a huge avaliability for parts in relation to the stock engine itself.

If you spent some coin, and beefed it up with a new tubo, manifold, plenum, ECU etc that would reduce the risk, but it still stands the internals could let go.

If your really worried, your best bet (dare I say it) would be to go a 4AGE and turbo it. That way you can also convert to rack and pinion at the same time

  6. So unfortunately things have been delayed a bit in relation to parts, but no biggie. Don't have the cash or time at the moment to for the plans anyways

    1) Got an AE71 crossmember, rack and steering coloum. Planning to use this for the rack and pinon conversion by welding on new engine mounts. Rather play with engine mounts than steering geometry. Thanks Luke!

    2) Got new steering rack bushes, boots, rack ends, adjustable tie rod ends on the way. Along with a quaife rack (still can't get the hang of the spelling  ).

Before the conversion happens, the rack will be sent off the the above goodies and fully rebuilt / setup properly.

Also found a great guy who is going to help with rust repairs in the boot floor, boot seal and rear lower quarter panels. I will also be getting him to do the steering conversion after Regency.

Should hopefully happen in 2 weeks time. Depending if I am in Adelaide or not . . .

So these plans, along with some coilovers, should see the front end completed to the specs I want it pretty much for now.

    Cheers Fusion

  7. I think I might know the one your talking about now. I think there was something similar for sale with the 3SG package.

O and while I'm at it. A few goodies will be arriving in about 2 weeks. So big update than . . . and maybe some pictures

  8. Cool car.. its not the only one in the land of oz though... this one lives in Melbourne

Well there you go! Has it had a repsray or something?

No fender mirrors and it doesn't look like GT stripes down the side

  9. Hey guys,

Hoping a member could share his previous experinces with someone who does steering setups as such.

Converting the car to steering rack, but want it all rebuilt beforehand, most likely including the setup of a quafe rack

    Any tips?

    Cheers Ross

  10. I swear I saw this on Yahoo JP many moons ago hey. Those wheels and that body really ring a bell. Great score though. Great to see such a rare car in good hands.

It wouldn't surprise me if Jay saw it on there and brought it back with him from a trip to Japan. I know hes imported a few cars before.

And thanks, all I can do is try. Hard part is being paitent :D

  11. Thanks parrot

To be honest its a bit of a mix of reasons rather than false information. Its an old car, even though it has low km's, doesn't mean things aren't going to be worn. I am a bit picky, I like to do things right once, even if its going to cost me a bit. And the EFI to carby conversion done by the previous owner wasn't exactly done right (in relation to the wiring and the fuel system). So its costed me a bit more, but I see that as just how things are haha

    Cheers Ross

  12. Cheers guys

It was orgianlly imported by Jay, than was sold to Andy and now to me.

Theres actually been more work than you think to get this up to standards haha Old cars love to keep surprises.

    - New fuel system

    - Couple of engine seals, servicing, air filters, dyno tuning

    - Stock interior

    - Stock rims and new tyres

    - New exhaust system

    - New alternator, battery and wiring (old wiring was burnt)

    - New bushes throughout

    - Rust spots

    - Brand new front seatbelts

    etc etc

The Advan rims in the picture are now sold and sitting nicely on Tallys KE2X Corolla.

2TG goes really well once warmed up, goes strongly all the way to 7,000RPM. Compression loss on cyclinder four that seems to be a piston ring (will be replaced after Regency most likely) although.

And as far as we know, this is the only TE71 GT in Australia of its kind.

    Cheers Ross

  14. Its a TE71 GT from Japan. Orginally EFI, but converted to Carby.

I think it was around $1800 for about 3 weeks work. Fuel system, about 3 dyno sessions, carbies overhauled including jets etc, couple of engine seals, bushes fitted, air filters, and a few other little things. Unfortunately mine has a slight problem on cyclinder 4, but Brenton (Fours n More) did his magic to make it smooth as possible.

Should be plenty safe at 7300 with the springs in

    Cheers Ross

  15. Spotted and subsequently bought a KE38 off the side of the road in Balhanna today!

Whats with you an KE3X Wagons :P

Are there gonna be any left for anyone else soon. Or are you going to keep the best 3 and crush the rest you find? :D
