  1. ok guys i got this 5k i was told its got a standard 5k head and std push rods so pretty much stock. now had the engine apart and rebuild it someone who put the timing back together did it wrong and all the rods bend (note is engine never ran) . so i pulled apart a spare 5k i had lying around from a liteace and it seems to be the rods are about 6-7mm bigger and has deeper combustion chambers, which is weird because i know there are 2 types on rods but i just want to know by the pics attached which head is which. and i will put a pik of my cam and the standard cam see if anyone knows what type of cam i have. thanks for your time guys. the nice clean head is my head on the motor I'm using with the smaller push rods and the dirty one is the one with the longer push rods (both ment to be 5ks)
  2. hey guys ive been reading other post on how to convert to solid lifters from hydro. now reason why i want to so this is because i want to put adjustable rockers on, eg 3k or 4k will this work? i was thinking of going holden red 202 lifters and 1200 push rods but what do i need to do to my cam as ive already got a big cam to suit the hydro. done it need to get re ground? or it doesnt? can i get more ideas on how to do it and what other people have done and the most easy and wont cost much so i can get my mechanic to order parts and what to do thanks.

  5. motor hasnt ran before the rocker gear had a crack in it so i wanted to see if 3k gear would work as i had a spare set now i need to try and find 5k rocker gear
  6. hey guys I'm after what the standard cam specs on a toyota 5k are and also wondering if i can put adjustable rockers on my 5k its got the standard lifters and slighty bigger cam i was thinking 3k ones will it work what do i need to do

  8. i did it wrong and tried to start the engine didnt start altho i bent all my push rodS!!! would that be the problem or the guy who did my head n blok didnt do it all right to match my cam any suggestions before i aduse my engine builder! thanks I sound like a dumb ass i know but I'm a coffe maker ;p

  11. difference between 5k and 3k oil pump Can u use a 3k one on a worked 5k and how do u reshim the oil pumps thanks

  13. yeah I'm going 4 a 2in now i was think around about the 70-80hp range if I'm lucky i really need to find the spe of the cam the chokes are 32 and the main jet is 138 any good cheers
  14. hi Imo in the middle of building my 5k for my ke20 just for abit of fun on a rainy day... the work ive done to it is- fully balanced, blueprinted bottom end, new conrods all new bearings etc, new 40thou oversized pistons block has been decked out don't know how much, head has been shaved to a very minimum , ported n polished head, max i could go, match ported manifolds with twin 40s and a lighted flywheel extractors and a 1.75in pipe with a HD excedy clutch!!. ok the cam is unknown now thats what is going to make the horsepower. if its not right for the engine then I'm f@$ked so I'm taking a risk!! i was told when i got it was the biggest cam for the streets just under a race cam, i just got it and didnt think it would of gone this far with the engine... ok so now i would like your feedback on what you think and what est. ill be getting on the dyno closest to it gets to wrap a helli :P it will be getting dynoed in the next 2-3weeks
  15. hi I'm rebuilding a 5k it had 40thou oversized pistons in it but the bores are gone... now i need to go 60thou but can't find 60thou oversized pistons for it... has anyone tried putting sleeves in a 5k does it work or is it too close to the waterjackets and will overheat?? thanks.

  17. just about 2 tol d oil in d box 2 take it 4 a spin n wondering how much goes in as i have it top it up from the shifter hole coz the bolt it fuKed cheers
  18. yeah tried more fuel umm... yeah i guessed 7 degreess BTDC umm maybe its to low might bring it up to 10 being advanced is alway better starting colder engines anyway but 3 degress realy shouldnt make to much of a differnce

  20. yeah man checked that its all correct thats y this is spinning me out so much can't get my head around it?? I'm going over every possiablty but ive been ovr it more than once just wont kick over.!!!
  21. sorry made a mistake in the post... engine is not in car my bad!!! ive been trying to start in the engine lifter... havnt trying to pump fuel, plugs r brand new duno if i have fouled them but tho... i was running 6volts by having the main postive wire going to the jumper leads but when i was cranking it i was getting a voltage drop!! so ran a single wire from another battery just to get more voltage to start the bastard!!! but still couldnt get a full 12VOLTS??
  22. nar man I'm pouring fuel through the carbie or spraying it with start ya bastard, havnt got the tank in yet to hook up fuel.....
