  1. You're better off running each speaker off a channel of the amp. An amp is designed to boost the power output, so only amplifying one speaker set isn't effective. You might as well amplify fronts and rears, then play with the setting on the amp and the headunit to adjust the sound properly.

Even without as much power coming from the amp, it's still better than the headunit itself and the sound will be much more evenly distributed. I had an AE92 Hatch and before I sold it had 4" in the front stock position, six's in a custom parcel shelf and a 12" active subwoofer for a bit more kick.

It went nearly as good as the setup I've got in my commodore and was a fraction of the price. Upshot to a small car is that it doesn't require an arseload of audio to create a nice sound platform. Tinker with the speaker settings and see what you like.

  2. I have

"How ?" you might ask. I realized that you can't really go anywhere with them, unless you have a tow vehicle in front.

And where's the fun in that when your being towed by a dirty Jumbuck.

Luckily for me I do have a tow vehicle.

No tandem trailer to tow it with, buuut that's alright :)

So definitely chasing an AE82 TC Hatch.

edit: Also want a car to play with to escape the missus and to give her the shits. She hates when I have anything that takes attention off her

  3. VT brake kit before December alongside;

LSD Centre (under $500 for a fitted reco)

    Uni joints

Trans lines fixed (leaking a little)

    82 Degree MACE Thermostat

    Radiator Flush

Front raised to King Spring Lows.

    Major Service

    Little further down the line:

    MACE Roller Rockers

K&N Panel Filter OR MACE CAI

Fix huge dent in Y piece

    Dumpy tip on exhaust

    Custom remote tune/memcal

    Strut brace

    Rear shocks

    Swaybars

    SS lip/foglights

All I can think of. New jobs rock :)

  4. Yeah was looking at the 298x28mm upgrade, match it to a vt master/booster and it should pull up nicely and no longer have a pedal longer than the floor. Unsure what i'll be up for cost wise as I don't like playing with brakes.

Found a reco'd LSD centre for $350 delivered, so tempting, just going to wait a week or two for the funds.

  5. Bought Corolla.

New Job opportunity with a lot more money came up too. So now working two jobs and should be watching the money flowing in soon enough.

Thinking of keeping both and getting this in for VT or VE brake upgrade and VT master to match, then raise the front to king lows (SL bumpsteers a little too much), then get a new diff centre. Possibly some MACE goodies but we'll see how much I spend on the Corolla too. Just don't want to part with this, especially after all the hassle ive had and the time, money and effort already put in (and knowing ill never get that back so why not go even further)

  6. Little things like the door jambs and under the hatch seal are even clean. It's spent its life garaged so it's been away from the elements. Poor thing must hate being at my house having to sleep under a tree.

So instead of testing the sub mount i ended up detailing the motor of the ute a little to make sure it's clean for sale.

Need to work out how the stereo comes out.

  7. Haha they're fantastic for roadworthies. Just unsure what size wheels to go when the ute sells.

They auto is alright, it's no manual for the way you can just keep pulling revs to get all that power down, but it has no problem keeping up with traffic.

Thanks Stu, it's the most well looked after car ive ever owned.

Dummy fitting my Kicker slimline sub soon, will take some pics and put them up. Going to mount it against the back of the back seat as it 'should' sit there nicely and have minimal interference with the remaining boot space.

What size speakers are in the front doors? 4"? 5"?

  8. That's so good Ben!

Well the new exhaust is on and I'm quietly happy with it. It's not super loud or anything, but it's got a reasonable note to it and It's fun to give it a little extra tickle on the go pedal to get a little burble happening.

Despite the current wheels having tires with good tread, these bob jane all rounders really aren't that grippy in anything but ideal conditions. Not sure if I should go 15 or 16 inch wheels. Was thinking some Sportivo ones would suit nicely.

  9. I actually think they'll be a darn side better than my previous A series. This motor was getting 3000km oil changes with receipts dating this for a solid 7-8 years. It wont be getting them every 3000km now, probably 7500, but everything else in this car mechanically has been well looked after, a real credit to the previous owners and their fastidious nature.

Keen to get stuck into little things on this car. It'l never be a power monster, it'll never be a look at me car, but it's going to have my own personal taste in how little things get tidied up. Got to figure out what order I want to do it in though, as I can se my wallet getting a workout and that could be catastrophic
