  1. Love the photoshop! I might pinch one of his vw motorsport power steering pumps to put on the Runx though. We know they can handle 9000 rpm (and the odd trip to 11 000 rpm). What are your thoughts though. I don't think the standard 3zz motor was ever meant to rev this high and the power steering pump was probably geared accordingly. I'm trying to find a meaningful chassis number on the car so i can see what other models might share the same pump.
  2. Bare in mind, new car, new driver, and only managed to put 10 kms on it so far so it wasn't being driven "hard".
  3. I'm uploading some videos to youtube at the moment of the shake down on Sunday and will post some links when they finish uploading.
  4. Righto, I reckon the engine is a 3zz-fe, 16 valve, but modified with quad throttle bodies and who knows what else. Goes like a cut snake and the rev limit is set up around 8000-9000 rpm.
  5. Bugger, all he has given me for the engine number is V0110486711. Chassis number AAPV0110650486711. He is positive it is a 1600cc motor, and it has what looks like a C56 gearbox (5 speed) attached to it. I'll see if the owner can pull the engine number off the block instead of what's on the paperwork. I wonder if they got some freaky 1.6 litre motor over in South Africa that we haven't seen here?
  6. That would explain why it goes so bloody well if it is. I'm trying to get hold of the engine number to find out for sure.
  7. I'm hoping that the collective brains trust here can assist with a problem of leaking power steering pumps. A friend has imported an RSi Runx rally car from South Africa which has a modified 4age 20 valve motor in it. The previous owner sent over 2 spare power steering pumps cause they would continually blow seals and they could not work out a solution to the problem. Is this a problem with Corollas that have the 2ZZ motor (which would also be revving just as high?) If not, then maybe I'll try to get one and see if that will fit on the car. I'm assuming (just a guess at the moment), that the high revs makes the pump run at too high a pressure and that is what is causing the seals to blow. 10 kms yesterday at an autocross track with revs between 5000 and 7500 was enough to make a pump fail. Another possible solution might be to get an underdrive pulley machined up to help reduce the pressure (or are they readily available?), or does anyone know if the pressure relief valves in the pumps be modified? There is a rally in 2 weeks time which we hope to enter the car in, but it will be a short event if it spits the seals from another pump as quickly as it did at the autocross track. Cheers, Rob.
  8. Sorry for the shaky camera work, it was bloody freezing up on that hill.
  9. Chris, I was the muppet that took the video with Annette's video camera, sorry about the shaky hands (not enough c2h5oh in the system at that time of the day). I'm still picking crunchy brown boogas out of my nose thanks to those dirty rear wheel drive cars that stirred up all the dust though. See what I mean that the car still sounds similar to when it had the old K motor.
  10. If I don't see you Friday night, all the best for down at the WRC Tony.
  11. It wasn't my mate in the unmarked Ralliart Lancer that sped through a school zone to pull me over was it? :glare: Not quite but close. I think it has just over 300 hp at the flywheel.
  12. I've got my fingers crossed that you have the Corolla ready for Border Ranges. Looks like we'll have to get TTQ (Team Toyota Queensland) up and going again as there's 8 Toyotas running at Gallangowan this weekend. Hopefully I will have the big block in my car by Border Ranges (I don't think the supercharger will be fitted and tuned in time though) and I don't care what everyone else says, the a/c is staying
  13. My cheap-ass Toyota doesn't have one, and the ecu would automatically try to adjust it back down via the isc. :bash: fixed. :no2: Meow! The lsd tries to rip the wheel out of my hands as it is, getting rid of the power steering might result in me breaking a nail :laff: I'll tell you after Gallangowan this weekend whether the air con is staying or going. Yeah, the lack of an autoclave is a small problem. With the sump guard, did you put the cloth on and then try to force the resin through it, or put the resin in and then lay the cloth on it and let the resin seep up through it?
  14. The bumpers look a treat! The AC runs of the alternator belt, the second belt is for the power steering  I can't do high rpm or lift the idle until I get that Adaptronic fitted. A stock 6200 rpm rev limit is hardly "high rpm" :( Prepreg!
