  1. The turbo is a garrett gt35r 700hp rollerbearing unit. And (lol) its not a quad throttle setup its an intake plenum with bellmouth runners(6 of them  ). It will have caps on the end and an 80mm throttle feeding from below. I hope it fits too but i havent welded it up yet so i can reduce the size if need be.Plenum capacity is over 7l as it is so there is room for reduction. Internals have been fully rebuilt, though only using cast factory vl na pistons.they have proven to be upto the task so long as you don't go silly with the a/f ratios. The head is unported but does have tomei cams fitted.Other than that its just splitfire coils, custom manifolds, big fuel system,9l oil pan with baffles and trapdoors, turbosmart 45mm wastegate,4" dump pipe, shimmed up rb25 oil pump and thats about it. The engine should make 350rwkw@20psi on a conservative tune. A friend of mine has a similar setup that we built but he has only 2.5l capacity and is producing 343rwkw@25psi I also have a full race jatco auto to back it up with a 3500rpm stall converter which should see the turbo onsong as it launches. I have unfortunately just found out that the ke55 cannot be registered with an engine bigger that 2250cc unless i do it as an individually constructed vehicle(ie stuffing around) :jamie: unless i source a dead rb20 block and " borrow" its numbers :o
  2. and the plenum I'm making atm.
  3. well i have spoken to both the rta and an engineer today and they both told me that capacity increase of 15% is legal without an engineers certificate and anything over that can be registered once the engineer has passed it. so its looking good on that front. what i really need now is some enginebay measurements.from radiator support to firewall, and across the enginebay from strut tower to tower(usable area) i will probably cut the entire trans tunnel out and replace it with one from a vl. heres a pic of the engine i have built(all myself)
  4. cheers mate. yeah I'm seriously considering swapping over to the darkside:) ive looked around this forum a bit and i think ive decided on a 79 ke55. does anybody know/can measure the length of a stock ke55 diff? i think i will cut down a vl diff to suit it but i need to be sure it will fit before i get carried away with my plan.
  5. hey guys I'm a total newby to this forum and corollas in general. please excuse my ignorance lol. anyhow i have searched this forum and couldnt find a good thread detailing the differences between ke55 4dr models. I'm looking at getting a ke55 and doing a turbo/engine conversion but id like to get to know them a bit before i go and buy one. anyway thanks for reading this post and i hope to bring some knowledge to the forum.(i don't know about corollas but i do know a lot about turbocharging :jamie:)
