  1. wouldn't mind, Ive looked around but don't really want to spend $400 on them just yet.
  2. Only pic at moment car is in pieces awaiting some paint Taken with a camera phone http://www.rollaclub.com/board/style_image.../attach_add.png
  3. Well, I thought i better write one of these build up things, problem is I've already done most of the build, so i wont have many new updates to post... oh well Around 3/4 the way through last year (2008) my pride and joy, minty fresh one owner RA63 celica got stolen from out the front of my house. The night before it was going in for some well deserved paint work. I was already looking around for a KE70, so i now had the perfect excuse to buy one. I think within about a week i had found and brought one, Absolute minter! How wrong i was! when i got it to my workshop under the lights, there was dented panels weird starting issues a massive lack of interior (and i got a supposed overrated complete interior with the car) miss match diameter wheels hardly anything under the bonnet no emissions missing wiring late model corolla radiator cable tied in gearbox held in with one cross member bolt done up one finger tight, and one mount to gearbox bolt finger tight, one missing. half the bellhousing bolts all finger tight. cut springs on supposed 86 front struts cut springs and locked diff in rear terrible drift spec twin pipes missing exterior trim parts the list goes on, i can't really remember it all. so your thinking what a dickhead, you should have picked this stuff out. I knew about suspension, diff and (most of) interior. but the rest didn't make it through my rose colored glasses, see thats the problem when you buy a car on face value. It looks sick, until you start looking at it a week later when the novelty wears off. any way if you managed to get through all of that, this is where it stands to date. 198* KE70 (Flat Front) 4KC Completely original stock as a rock motor with everything from factory on it. K50 5 speed, now with working reverse (funny, all you had to do was connect the plug) and bolted up properly. Complete 1984 slant front,(gray) overrated interior with venetian. Complete exterior trim work Brand new taillights New exhaust with factory looking outlet (right down to the bends) JDM AE86 front struts and brakes, (sitting on ke30 lower arms i think, arms came with car) Standard diff (Open) ATM cut standard springs, plans to get king springs Madhouse Lip 14x7 0 offset CSA Globelines (Brake Boilers) with stretched 185/60/14 Full audio, fitted to look standard XX tacho dash with all new brighter globes and LED's were appropriate larger rear swaybar (came on car) Chrome bars (current project) New panels (currently in primer) Sunroof Much more to come.... Pics time i guess
  4. well its all over now, drilled holes in the passenger's door... and fitted two sweet looking mkI corona chrome mirrors to the old ksev. they look good against the super out there pastel paint work and only cost me $12 from u-pull-it score, i guess. guard mounted mirrors would still have looked cool tho... cheers for the replies again, ill have to set up a rides thread and show people
  5. unfortunately i didnt take the time to look before i pulled it out. i didnt take the tail shaft out of the box, to keep oil in it. so i don't know how much is in. i havent changed anything its all back in its original place. are five speeds longer then four speds? are there different length five speeds (from different models) or different length tail shafts? thanks for replies,
  6. well replies have been awesome, alot of things i didnt think of, (rain, fog) its definately a look thing over practicality. its those ricers that keep me from putting them on, and my mate has some and he reckons people love screwing around with them. people just don't understand... i think ill go with normal mirrors... its a shame the one i got look sick kinda jdm gt stylish. so... where do i get a standard left hand ke70 door mounted (not slanty mirror) mirror from? I'm pretty sure they don't come out with them standard cheers for the replies guys!
  7. i knew id forget to write something.. the car was ramped up on front and jack stands under diff on rear. it was level when i did it
  8. had to change my thrust bearing today. took out all the bolts dropped the tail shaft out on the diff side dropped the box, changed the bearing, bolted it up. all went well without a hitch. bolted up the tail shaft and noticed that the shaft doesnt sit all the way into the back of the gearbox. there is about a half inch gap between dust cover on shaft and back of box where you can see the shiney part of shaft is this normal? it doesnt look right. technical points. ke70 flat front 5 speed gearbox i don't think its a factory 5 speed tho because half the belhousing bolts were missing, gearbox x member wasnt bolted up tight, reverse switch wasnt plugged in, shifter plat was bolted down with two of the four bolts, and the third bolt had been snapped into the thread, fourth was missing. any info would be really handy, cause i have no idea. cheers,
  9. went looking thru u-pull-it the other day looking for a right hand mirror to suit flat front ke70, and couldn't find one, have a feeling you can't get them. so went looking thru the lesser automotive brands, and found a pair of sweet looking mirrors. problem is they mount better on the guards. What are peoples opinions on guard mounted mirrors, I'm split bothways, and my paint job is pretty good so i don't want to make the wrong decission either way. a little group support would run sweet now. could post pix for a better understanding, but would rather see what you all come up with first. cheers,
  10. the current starter in the car is the third one, if i was on the first or second starter i would question the solenoids ability. three starters with the same problem would be very coincidental. stranger things have happened. according to the gregorys book, theres a relay in the starter circuit. that i have yet to come across/check/change would a smaller dizzy affect the spark or timing control of the motor? also all bolts were check tightened, with gaskets changed the car runs like a dog... with the new carby on the idle is fairly low, the timing is all over the place, but has only stalled once. the idle is pretty low tho. on idle it sounds like my old gem with a stage three cam. overkill but without the cam. cheers for the replies,
  11. hey, i have a ke70 (flat front) don't know what year rolla, I have engine troubles that i can't really work out. 1. starting the car is pretty hard at best, the starter solenoid clicks when you turn the ignition, but no turn over, then after a few turns it will eventually turn over like nothings wrong. the battery is fine, it has been checked, Ive had three starters in it, the current is also fine. the electrical circuit between the battery and the starter is holding correct current, no breakdown in power. the battery terminals have been changed and cleaned. i have changed the ignition, battery, starter, battery wiring. it also runs a gt40 that i havent changed yet. 2. the distributor is smaller in diameter to my (defected) parts ke slant front, and my mates slant front? does the flat front ke have a different dizzy? or has it been changed into the car from an older model? 3.the car stalls when i pull up at the lights/ change down gears. i have put on my spare carby and it appears to be fine, but ive only driven home in it and it is an intermittent problem, so I'm not even sure thats fixed. when i bought the car it had everything under the bonnet, pissed about with, no emmisions, bad fuel set up, wrong radiator cable tied in, missing part in general. ive put everything back in from my stocker defect. but i still have these issues. Sorry the post is so long but i can't work out these problems and any info on any of this stuff would be much appreciated. cheers,
