Hi all,
Have just started a new project ( cheap) the car is a spearmint coloured 93 toyota corolla seca ( ae94) with the ever so gutsy 4afe.
She had a seized engine ( hole in the side of the block), so I went out and bought a 97 corolla seca for the engine and gearbox ( also 4afe) I know everybody says go the 4age but this will be my daily driver and have had my share of performance cars so the 4afe will stay ( for now). On a different note a family member has a 93 rv seca with the 7afe that looks identical to the second gen 4afe ( even the wiring), I thought this conversion would be a piece of cake, little did I know that toyota changed everything from the engine mounts ( drivers and rear bracket assembly) to the gear selector (auto where it bolts to gearbox) even the front section of the exhaust is close but not the same, nevermind everything is in now, even the speedo cable ( cable not electronic).
Now to the fun part the wiring, my 93 corolla 4afe engine wiring is completely different from the 97 4afe, but here's the clincher, the 93 rv/ultima corolla has what you might call a hybrid wiring harness that combines the 91 on 4afe style of wiring with the 94+, that is my dilema at the moment whether to modify my original harness to suit the engine, or use the ecu and wiring from the donor vehicle as toyota want $350 for a 93 automatic rv seca wiring harness and I'm unsure whether it will even plug into my fuse boxes in the kickpanels. These cars have the most annoying wiring harness as it goes through the passenger side as well as the drivers with no where to unplug the bloody thing.
If anybody has any diagrams ecu pinouts etc I'd greatly appreciate any information, or alternatively if you know of someone who has an automatic 92/93 rv seca or ultima that is wrecking I would buy the wiring harness in a flash.
Thanks
Troy
