haha great work. i love a dodgy fix personally. as long as it works! glad to hear its all workin for ya mate
-
Well I slept on it and cooler heads have prevailed. It's just too rank. Sorry to anyone who actually clicked the link hahaha
-
Haha you are not wrong about the fender mirrors. yuck.
don't have RWC in SA so no problem there. Yes I would need to get rego on it soon but probably only 3 months worth as i would probably move it on in the new year..
I wish I could find twin cams for this price. I really am very restricted on price at the moment so thats why i was considering it.
I'd take it for a spin. If it feels ok, no CV joint noise, tyres ok. Check the oil. All the basics.
Check the side with the new panel for chassis damage. Take a magnet if you are anal and run it over patchy paint (if it don't stick it's bog).
Then offer $300
haha I think this is the way to go. If it is all good mechanically I would be keen.
Cheers for the input guys

Hey, just looking for as many opinions i can get as to whether I should buy this little sh!t box
Pros
- it has low klms
- cheap to run and cheap to buy (+ price is negotiable)
- has cd player
- its a corolla
- has rego
Cons
- looks poo
- probably something wrong with it ?
The thing is my car (ke38) is on historic rego and is running out of days left to drive and I am looking for something that can get me around for next couple of months that is cheap and I can sell again for the same money. I am going to inspect this car and maybe some others over the next few days.
What are things to look for in an ae82 when inspecting/ test driving?
Is this a good price?
CHEERS,
Chris

Hey mate is the ke55 square headlight or round? If its square its a lot harder to swap the grill and headlights over. If its round its all easy and bolts on. Apart from that all the front panels will bolt on no problem (guards, bonnet, front valance etc.) If it is a square front ke55 I would just swap everything but the grill and lights.
As for the 4k and 5 speed should be a direct fit for everything.
Cheers

Looks cool man you should make a rides thread. Love the rear wheels you guys got in the US. Nice and fat.
-
Cool, can't wait to see pics. Some decent mods so far. I hope by 'new wheels' you actually mean some nice old school jap dishy 13s or 14s and not some huge 17 inch fwd offset abominations :D
Good luck,
Have fun,
Cheers,
Chris

Oh nice! only took you a year to put the motor in haha. I am exactly the same don't worry... How does it go?
As for front shocks there is a bunch of info around. Look at what people use for Ae86 struts and also xt130.
Cheers

HOLY CRAP NICE CRESSIDA! That thing goes hard!

Oh man am i glad to hear it haha. I didnt wanna say anything but they didnt do it for me.
The visor though. Absolutely pimp. Great job. I want one like that not the mesh one like i have. and everything else looks great so keep it up!
-
Yeah don't paint it matte if you are putting effort into prep. I like the gloss black idea, or gunmetal would be nice.
-
yeh good luck with that haha took me a good year of wrecker runs before i found one!
-
From a wrecker. Were on a sigma wagon. $30
-
Just a random piccy
-
Everybody wants it but then everybody sells it. Why?
-
My god this car makes me want to paint my wagon blue so bad! I love bluE!!
and a few other cool piccys..

Been doing some fuel calculations. I got 400ks with 36.7 ltrs of 95 fuel (9.18 ltrs per 100ks). Car has extractors and intake mods but no engine work. Pretty happy, but kind of feel it should be better than that.. hmmm :hmm:
-
haha that shade thing is so dodgy i love it. I don't know why u would want one of those huge multi-mirrors though.. ? I mean apart from the wtf factor, imagine those with cars behind u at night, you would be hating life.
I grabbed a mirror off a late 80s camry or something it has the day/night flick thingy which is super handy and its a bit bigger than a corolla one so u can see better too. oh yeah and it was free ;)

Is the car lowered?
205/60 tyre on a 14x7 -20 rim will scrub stock guards if the car is low.
I have 175/65 on 14x7s with 0 offset and i still get some minor scrubbing on the rear. Its pretty low though.. oh and it has 5mm spacers so more like -5 offset.
185 would be the go. That what i will be getting next.
What ever you do let us know how it goes. I love white tyre writing! Wanna see pics!

Thanks guys, appreciate the kind words.
2jz in this thing hahaha that would be mental. Don't know if the wallet would ever recover though!
Phil so you have a proper thread now eh? Hehe, I'll check it out.. 38s rule!
Cheers,
Chris

So the shocks are to fit into corolla struts and give short stroke? Are they going to be firm enough for 6kg springs and not bounce around?
:hmm:
Keen to see how they go.
-
Nice car. I really like this model for some reason. Well the sedans anyway. I'll be watching what you do with it.
Enjoy!

LOL
Looks great man.
Love the plans.
Cheers

Should I Buy It? Ae82..

Yeah I just get a bit impatient when looking for cars, never the right one when you are looking but when your aren't, they seem to be everywhere.
I am on a pretty tight budget though so that does narrow it down a bit. I would be keen on a 4age ae82 if its in decent nic and under a grand. (thats about my limit at the moment for what i can spend.) I inquired about this one but had no reply so i think its sold.

Guess i will just keep an eye out over the next few weeks and see what comes up.
Cheers for the input it certainly helps
