After all the other dramas I had, the starter motor sometimes simply clicks. I put in a 2nd hand starter motor but it does the same thing. I have disconnected and checked all connections.

Has anyone ever had the ignition switch play games? I am wondering if that last little bit

(start) in the iggy switch is dead or dying. Has anyone had this problem? Is it common?

If it is I will simply reroute wires and put in a starter button like my old FJ.

Cheers,

Pauo

Ah the common k-motor starter problem. Really easy fix mate. Just wire in a relay to the starter motor solenoid and you'll never have the problem again.

The wire toyota ran originally must be pretty crap cause ive had to do it too 2 of my corollas. Good luck mate :)

Don't forget that the start circuit also gives a 12 volt boost to the ignition coil while cranking.

with a new starter button switch it may start with a fully charged battery, but if the battery is down it probably wont start as the coil voltage to the coil thru the ballast resister when cranking would only be about 4 volts.
