note i don't have a car for all this to go into either so factor in that i have to pay $1000 for a car w/broken motor at some stage and also i have to source a bottom end (should be able to find one for free)

 

the aim of the game is to make a 'daily driver' for $1000 or less!

i am thinking 150-200 by the way...

let's look at how much this all costs to buy in working condition

so far that's around 750 to a grand's worth of bits. i'd ask $500ish

 

you really need to define "a noise". if it's say timing chain, then that's all good and easy fixed. if it's say, a big end bearing or rod bolt, well, at least you'd be getting a bargain on the rest. you're either going to have to fix it or put all the good stuff on another motor

you would actually pay $500 for that?!

no but i'd ask it. i'd pay 350~400 for it
