mikeys toy[RL] Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 I just pulled my NOISY K60 apart today to find the front main bearing VERY rough and the front countershaft bearing rough and the countershaft galled up. It's an oddball; not like the K50, K51s. The front retainer is different from all the others I've seen, and all the ones in the books. I need another countershaft, and maybe another retainer and input shaft as these are damaged slightly Shipping would be high to the states I imagine, so donations are being accepted.... Also; if anyone could tell me exactly what a K60 g'box is, please let me know. Crostek Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 K60 is the casting number for KE70 81-83 model K50 five speed has bigger bearing in layshaft then KE30-55 model gearbox. Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted March 29, 2007 Author Report Posted March 29, 2007 Yeah; All the other ones I've owned had either K50, K51, K52 on the bearing retainer and it was far different than this one. I NEED A COUNTERSHAFT! If anyone has a parts tranny lying around........ I'd like to have a countershaft, input shaft and bearing retainer if possible. price + shipping to the states, please. Quote
trd Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 whats wrong with the retainer? and that shaft is only about $40 new from toyota, is the needle roller bearing that cost $$$$ what type of transmission casing is it, smooth or ribbed (thats the outside of the casing) theys 2 types & those shafts are different ive done 100's of these boxes & this is the most common problem (except for the retainer) cheap to fix Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted March 30, 2007 Author Report Posted March 30, 2007 The retainer is broken on the bottom half where the snap ring goes. I'm sure I could still use it, but If I could get another one, I'd be WAYYYY happy. There was no such thing as a KE7X in america. The last KEXX corolla was in '77. Then you had the starlet from '81-'84. This is supposedly an '83-'84 4KE K60 and starlets are super rare, especially out here in hillbilly country. I work for a large auto parts chain and all the bearings I ordered were wrong. I called toyota and the only bearing availible was the front main one. No needle bearings, no shaft. I would be TOTALLY happy with good used parts, or if new ones are available, I would have to pay someone to buy them and ship them, (hint, hint) This is my bread and butter, 35mpgs 70 mi ONE WAY to work; it HAS to drive. Help me Tony; I think you're my last hope..... p.s. it's a ribbed case. Quote
