Ke70 5spd Into Ke55 Question

Hey Guys,

 

Scored meself a free KE70 on the weekend with a running 4K and to my surprise a working 5spd!,

 

Now i already have a 5Spd in my KE30 but it is a KE55 one so it didn't need any modding.

 

I have a 4K 81 KE55 4Spd i want to try put this 5 banger in.

 

I know that the extension housing sits a little further back with the KE70 5spd box, my question is will i still be able to use my centre console with the gearshifter in relatively the same position or is it a further back?,

quick answer: it's miles away, forget the center console. :D

Better idea, find yourself a KE55 extension housing (like the one sitting in my boot :D ), spend 15 minutes swapping them, and bolt it straight in. Otherwise you need to modify xmember too

By how much would the x-member need to be modified ?

I can't remember off hand....I know my mate did it, but you need to make a hole for the shifter if you do it this way....much much easier to get a KE55 extension housing
