p_schrapel Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 hey there guys ive just brought myself a ke15 corolla for next to nothing with no rust and in overrated condition now i want to modify stuff on in it has only the 1100cc engine I'm not sure if i should place the 5k engine in and turbo it if i can find some stronger parts to hold the thing together or should i throw the old slant motors out and place a twin cam engine in with or without a turbo. if i was to do it does anyone know how hard it is and what things i need to look at doing. my other option is ditch all the 4 cly and place a rotor engine in its place. thanks guys any help would be great thanks. Clapped out Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 (edited) Hey there fella, hit the search button at the top of the screen, type in what your looking for and have a look at what other people have done, there are too many options when it comes to engine conversions, gives you a bit of an idea. :( ps. For the love of god id hate to see a ke15 modded, just my opinion! cheers phatke30! Edited December 8, 2007 by phatke30 Quote
p_schrapel Posted December 8, 2007 Author Report Posted December 8, 2007 yeah i know but i would like something i would never get pulled over in by the police and its something different and something that u most people would never see. Quote
dfunkt Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 the best way to not get pulled over would be to keep it looking and sounding stock. and also drive it like a granny Quote
WinKE55 Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 It also depends p_schrapel if you are under the new laws as well. That is if you are in Brisbane and if you got your P's or rather after 1st of July this year. If you are under the new laws you will not be able to legally drive your car around because we are not aloud to do engine modifications like an engine transplant. Though if you aren't in the new laws then I suppose you are in luck. Common engine swaps here I've noticed is CA18's, SR20's, 4A-GE and the off Hilux motor that Curly has done and the 302 that 302Rolla has done and the V6 Commodore motor I think it is? From another member. The only thing that limits you is your imagination hehe. It costs a fair bit of money though, but money isn't an issue to some people. Maybe make a sleeper? Keep it all stock on the outside, maybe even the exhaust as well? Hide the intercooler if you are putting a turbo on it etc. And just don't go crazy all the time on the road =] Hope this helped. p_schrapel Posted December 9, 2007 Author Report Posted December 9, 2007 yeah i am under the new laws but I'm not realy fussed about that. at the moment i drive a vl with a v6 eco tec engine instead of the rb30 and ive made myself up turbo manifolds and turbos the thing. it is a weapn but ive been offered to sell it and i want something different now so i was planning on something easy and something new. in this case a ke10 corolla with a 4cyl maybe turbo I'm just after a conversion that is easy at the moment ive managed to put the thing on straight gas and i will have to sy the improvement in the drive of the car has changed and i love it more. its like it doesnt use fuel and i never really have to go t the petrol station. but yeah I'm mainly after something that will jsut about bolt straight in and gear box to be easy. thanks heaps everyone Quote
WinKE55 Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 its like it doesnt use fuel and i never really have to go t the petrol station. Well if you are running on gas it wouldn't use fuel now would it =] Well, since you aren't fussed on the laws, you can put whichever engine you want to put in it I suppose. Easiest conversion would be a 5k engine, Pretty sure it would fit. Another as I've been told is a pretty easy conversion is a Hilux motor. If you search for the member Curly, and look at a few of his posts, I think it's in Rides and Project it will tell you what Hilux engine he has in his Corolla Wagon. Other than being easy, it depends how much knowledge you know about cars and how handy you are with tools I suppose. I'll be putting an SR20DE motor and/or a Hilux engine like Curly has into my KE55 coupe. Hopefully I'll have another KE55 soon =] Hope this helped. Quote
