Hey guys building a tough little 4K in my run around every day KE55, got the bottem end done

I have a spare 3K cam lying around i want to send away and get regrind, will it fit my 4K? are they identical?

If you regrind a 3K cam, yes it will fit into a 4K.

 

They're close enough to identical.

Just make sure you check the end float of the cam ,SOME of them have wider rear cam journals and they rub on the cam plug causing premature wear ad failure of the thrust plate.

3k cams have a wide rear journal.

 

I'm not sure about all 4k's, but I do know that the later dished piston 4k's and 5k's have narrow rear cam journals.

 

As madrolla said, check for end float to be sure.
