Dash Lights

hey.

one afternoon i noticed my dash lights didn't work.... it was raining

so i started turning the dimmer dial....

turned it all the way off and smoke started pouring out of my dash!

took dash out...... the electrical stuff behind is burnt but indicator lights and stuff all still work!

i tried taking the dimmer out and just connectig the two wires to complete the circuit and the same thing happened!

i don really know enough about the wiring behind there to make an imformed decision on what to do

i was thinking of just putting my own lights in there and wiring them up to the ignition so when the car is on they are on?

any ideas?

KE55 corolla

cheers

Its just a simple circuit, all globes that light the dash, there must be a wire toughing earth somewhere or a globe holder melted and shorting.

I would remove all globes put a test light in series. if all the globes are removed the test light should not glow. If the test light does glow you need to wriggle wires ext until it goes out then you have found the fault.
