charl Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 hi everyone, today i got given a weber carby for nothing, i know nothing about carbies so i have no idea if i can even use this thing on my 5k motor. i have written down all the numbers i can find on the thing. there is a little tag on one of the bolts that has the following written on it: Weber 86 DA UD A 6 G 15 (the 5 looks like an upside down 2) on the side of the thing there is what appears to be a serial number imprinted: 34 ADMOC 007791 i was told it was out of a 2lt toyota motor from a camry or something. i know its a bit vague, but if anyone can tell me what this is and wether or not it will be useful to me i would greatly appreciate it! thanks all Charl Quote
Raven Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Its a 34 ADM, commonly used on XE/XF Falcon's. Way too big for a 3K/4K motor. Quote

charl Posted April 28, 2008 Author Report Posted April 28, 2008 and now for my next question.... ive been reading up on the forum about what to do to a 5k to get some decent power out of it. now i want to stay "legal" if i can but I'm after a recipe for success with my 5k and havent found anything like that on here. many people have different opinions and what i would like in this thread is for each person who has done a 5k to put down what theyve done to the internals etc, and what the results were. that way we can all use this as a reference for newbies to compare the options to see whats best suited to them individually and approximately how much it will cost them. i hope this hasnt been done before, if it has i have not had any luck finding it so please point me in the right direction. looking forward to some inspiration. charl Quote
charl Posted April 29, 2008 Author Report Posted April 29, 2008 would a pair of Stromberg CD150 carburettors with linkages from Triumph 2500 be any good on a 5k? Quote
philbey Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Not bad - Better off with SU's though, strombergs tend to be harder to deal with and tune, and also harder to get parts for. BUT - you will really really struggle to find a manifold for them. I was going with the SU option but just couldnt get one. If you have ~800 bucks, buy the twin Dellorto's Kangaroosa is/was selling and use them. I currently have a 5k down at API Engines in Lonsdale, they have started on the block at the moment. Read this thread I posted earlier, I will let you know how it all pans out. READ ME Quote
Raven Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 Yep, twin Dellortos are the shiznizzle. I had a twin SU manifold but sold it off fairly cheaply and it was brand new. Thats going back a year now though. It was a Lynx brand too. I may be able to source one for you if you're really keen Charl but will be a fluke if I can track one down that brand spankers for ya. PM me if you want me to see what I can do. Cheers Raven Quote
