My boyfriend ahs recently made a really sweet set-up on my 1980 ke55 Sedan. We put a set of twin SU's off a mark II jaguar with a lynx manifold onto my modified and rebuilt 4KC engine. It took a while to source all of the parts as there were no linkages with the carbs when we got them so we had to clean and rebuild the su's and source all of the cables and throttle linkages etc, which was a very lengthy process due to the guy who was supposed to be getting them all for us being drastically slow and getting nowhere.

Anyway it's all on the car and hooked together. but the fuel pressure (we think, robert's a 3rd yr mechanic so he should know what he's doing) is pushing the needle and seat too far open and letting in too much fuel, hence fuel is overflowing. this isn't good as the carbs are above the extractors and it would not be good if fuel spilt on it when it's hot (bye bye car :hmm:

 

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has put twin su's on their engine's, as i'm interested to know. I'd like to know if anyone else has had the same problem.

I think that a fuel pressure regulator would solve the problem but I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with su's on a rolla, and if the stock corolla fuel pump will deliver enough fuel to the carbs?

would be better off going with an electric fuel pump, although the stock mechanical will do...but far from ideal.

 

As for fuel pressure, the mechanical pump only make around 3-4psi, which the SU's should be able to handle. Maybe the needle and seats are a bit worn!
