madmorrie Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Hi Guys Just got my new (to me) AE82 on the road and it seems to have a fairly high idle. Is this normal for the 4AGE? It idles around 1500 sometimes as high as 2000rpm. Also I've noticed that when accelerating it pulls slightly to the right, when deccelerating it pulls slightly to the left. Is this the normal torque steer, or is something wrong, worn out, twisted??? All help appreciated, thanks guys. Madmorrie Quote
Trev Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Its normal to idle that high when they are cold, My steering was doing the same thing, I found that the lower control arm bolt was loose. Quote
4ages Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 I have a similar problem, it may also have some thing to do with the throttle body needing a clean and rebuild too. Well thats what Trev's boss said, as they have a wax palet used in the idle process in the throttle body( water runs around the trhottle body) heating wax to bring the idle lower if it has build up it may stick.
