ke11restorer Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 What are the differences in tailshafts between say a ke11 and a ke55 I have put a ke55 5spd in my corolla and I'm finding that the tailshaft does not match up. is a ke55 same length? and will it bolt up to my diff? thanks luke Quote
dfunkt Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 which bits don't match up?? the ke1x/2x tailshafts are shorter (but not by much ~ 1inch) the diff flange may be different (ie a BW or Jap diff) also, auto/manual tailshaft front yolk Quote
ke11restorer Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Posted June 9, 2008 The yoke wont go into the box :D Seems more of a finer thread on the ke55 box compared to the ke11 tailshaft The ke11 was running a 4spd manual Quote
TE278U Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 call peter robinson, he has been doing those conversions for ages and can tell you all about them. Quote
dfunkt Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 ke11 4spd was the BW gearbox, so the spline count is different. Quote
Felix Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 (edited) You need to change the front yoke on your tailshaft. Is your diff a jap or B/W? If it is a jap, get a front yoke from a manual ke2x or ke3x jap tailshaft. If it is a B/W, get a front yoke from a manual ke5x or ke7x B/W tailshaft. It is a perfect excuse to change the front uni. Jap uni part No. is K5-A517, B/W uni part No. is RUJ1786. Note: This is assuming a ke1x manual to later manual gbox change, I'm not sure on auto tailshafts as I've never had an auto ke1x.
