Just wondering about getting a tacho in my car.

 

I drive a 87 hatch. I've heard from a few people that a similar model dash will plug straight in and the tacho wires are already there.

 

I'm wondering, if I bought a custom tacho from somewhere, would it plug straight into the existing tacho set up?

 

If not, what would I need to wire it to, to get it to work?

Nearly all after market tachos have the same wiring

Positve

Earth

Lights

Memory

and signal.

 

You can get a signal by connecting the wire to the negative side of your ignition coil.
