Hey guys i have a 4k in my 70 and had it running, it then decided to stop pumping fuel, i realised i didnt have the spacer between the pump and the block on so i put that on with a new pump and gaskets and i have a return line on the pump going back. Should fuel squirt out when i crank it over? or does it need to be connected to the carb so it creates a vaccum, there is not much fuel in the filter at all. i have a downdraught holley 26 27 and was also wondering which fitting was for the inlet and where do i connect the return to?

yeah has return line,

exactly the same

test the pump by taking it out, connecting a hose to the inlet and into a jerrycan of petrol then press the lever bit down on the ground and push it to pump it and it should squirt out the fitting that goes to the carby if it works,

if not then its buggered,

weird that yours did not have a spacer previously? maybe your pump has a shorter lever bit, measure the lngth of it and ill measure mine as i got a couple in the shed

if it worked before without a spacer maybe it will work again with out one?

ok well it started, i took out the fuel pump and sucked some fuel up into it and its all good, i got the engine running with some oil flush to get rid of the oil and i noticed a leak from behind the pump, so i took it off and that spacer is cracked in two, are these available new?
