mikeys toy[RL] Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 bought it off of ebay for 80 bucks usd. The guy said it was for a pre '74 corolla......i asked specifically if it would fit a '69. got it, put it on yesterday, had to cut 1/2" off of the motor mount plate, finished it up today. leaking at head....that'll teach me to try to reuse old gaskets..... i don't really notice any difference, just is louder at the twice pipes any advice? MikeValley Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 You won't notice much gain now until you reduce your intake restrictions (head, inlet system) and stuf like that what sized exhaust system did you connect it to? Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 if you put a camshaft in your motor bigger than 260 degrees with the stock exhaust manifold, you will get inlet reversion and will need to put extractors on just on its own, it's proably making a bit more power and will sound nicer, if you have a full 1.5" to 2" exhaust it'll make a few more horsepower, but it's going to throw you back in your seat or anything Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted April 15, 2005 Author Report Posted April 15, 2005 well, i just got back from a 400 mi trip; at 3,000ft altitude i notice a SLIGHT increase in power. down around 1,500ft altitude it's more like 5hp. i can DEFINETLY feel it. mileage is the same, but it is WAYYYYY louder i am using 2" exhaust. i was thinking about packing some steel wool into the tail pipes...... i am running a stock starlet 4k-e system, so a big cam is OUT. i would like to know how to convert it to a map sensor system......any help?
