seabiscuit Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) I'm putting some lowered springs in my KE70 and I need to get the front struts out to change the springs over. I've ran into a little problem and can't find a quick solution. On the strut, the small hole where the brake lines run through it, don't have a little slit to slide the lines out of (as I thought it would), and I don't want to undo the brake lines and have to bleed them when I put it back together. How can I get the strut out without playing around with the brake lines? Edited January 10, 2009 by seabiscuit Quote
Redwarf Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Get a pair of tin snips, clip the top edge of the bracket, bend bracket, remove brake line. Install is reverse. Quote

I thought I'd have to do this. I didn't want to decimate it. Thanks very much! :( Edited January 10, 2009 by seabiscuit Quote
seabiscuit Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 Update! The 3mm steel was difficult to cut with snips, so I used a hacksaw. But I got the strut in and out "easily" enough. Putting the clip back in when re-installed was a little difficult as the bracket wasn't perfectly straight. If you're not taking the strut completely out and are just getting it out of the way, you can also remove the brake calipers to give yourself a little extra slack on the lines, rather than cutting the bracket. Mission complete! Quote
