This is my first post and I couldn't figure out where to introduce myself, so I'll do it all in one go.

G'day, My name's Luke,

I'm a green P plater and I own an XF EFI with extractors, pod filter, Hotwire rims, 3" drop all round etc, etc.

Anyway, I'm in the market for a Corolla..

I want about a KE70.. Doesn't matter if it's 4-AGE or not, I'd be happy with a carby one. Should be manual.

Plans are: rip everything out of it that I can, make it as light as possible without replacing panels with carbon fibre and stuff...

Eg: no spare/jack, rear seats, carpet, uphostery, sound deadening, a/c, p/s, etc.

Port/polish it myself, maybe bore it out with larger pistons(?)

Then put a real lumpy cam in it of some sort..

I really know NOTHING about Corollas, so I was wondering if someone could give me a quick demo as to what the latest model corolla was without computers of any sort, (minus electronic ignition) and what the Engine/Gearbox/Diff combinations were?

Thanks in advance, Luke :P

hey luke, welcome to rollaclub :P

Buying a ke70 is a good way to go cause there's plenty of spare parts out there in case you need anything.

Unfortuantely ke70's didn't come out with a stock 4age. The only thing close to it is the AE71, which is pretty much the same car but with an 4A motor in it. But they are relatively easy to convert to 4age.

The ke70's came out with the stock 4K-C 1.3 litre. They also came out in either 4 or 5 speed manual. Or even automatic. Alot of them don't have a/c or p/s so there is an extra 5hp for you're motor right there :P

Are you planning on having this as a street legal car or race car?

Cause if you wanna be driving it around you'll have to have the back seat staying in and carpet is definitely a must to make to comfort of the car alot nicer.

Anyway there is alot of people on here that can help you out alot more than i can so yea...

good luck

Thanks for the Welcome!

And thanks for the quick lesson, too.

So even an AE71 would suit me great.

I'd prefer the 4K-C engine over the 4AGE so I can muck around with it more myself I think.

It'll be a street legal car, but my Falcon will remain my daily driver. So the 'rolla doesn't need to have comforts of any sort.

I understand having carpet/sound deadening makes a HELL of a lot of difference with road noises, but I don't care at all.

The only thing I want to keep inside the car is the two front seats. :P

... Though iunno how legal that is..

I'd love a manual, even if it's the 4 speed. (I'm guessing they're the same, except the 5 speed had the overdrive gear[which I don't need])

So what year did the KE70/AE71 run?

There's also a search function in the top right hand corner of the screen.

Welcome to the board, but if you can't handle the aforementioned suggestions, maybe stick to Fords...

Anti-Ford fan, are we?

Not at all, just a bit of harmless banter.

But seriously, there is a heap of info on here. Maybe have a good look/search around the site, as most of your questions have been covered on numerous occasions. I reckon that I lurked on the board as a "guest" for 2 years before I actually signed up.
