Picked up a decent lookin registered ke30 after about 2 months searching, stock as they come, not much but a bit of rust (but that comes with buying a 30+ year old car)

I've been looking over this site and I'm looking to drop a 4agze or similar 1.6-2.0litre motorwith a 5sp manual

Just a few questions I have:

Because I won't really be able to complete this feat on my own, any advice on someone who does motor conversion in perth would be greatly appreciated

What price am I looking at to- 1.purchase motor 2.parts/labour to change from FWD to RWD 3.labour to fit motor(I've seen engine mounts for sale from a user on here by the name of greenmac for $150 + postage, would it be cheaper for me to supply these for fitting, and will this motor bolt straight in, or will I need to relocate stuff) 4.suitable brakes 5.suitable diff(preferably lsd and something that won't need cutting down) 6.Anything I've missed

Basically lookin for a price range, a decent source to obtain from and someone who'd be willing to do such a task in perth

Any info or input much appreciated

Cheers

No-one can point me in the direction of getting this professionally converted(In Perth)?

From what I've researched most of you's undertook this conversion yourselves but I don't particularly have the know-how to start ripping shit apart, so any advice on who/where/how much I can get this done will be much appreciated.

ALSO: there are abundent ke70 projects out there, what is the difference(if any) between undertaking a 4agze conversion on a ke70 in comparison to ke30.

Any help much appreciated,

Josh.

Gidday Josh,

I don't think there are many Perth members here, so that might explain your lack of recommendations

This question has been answered a couple times on this board - I don't have time to do so at the moment, but if you spend a little time searching, you should turn something up ... Look for 4AGE stuff for most of your info ... then do some searches on "GZE" to find extra info. Basically, you're looking at a 4AGE conversion with the added headache of blower location together with intercooler (if you decide to run one). Go looking for "turbo + KE30" for intercooler ideas.

The basic difference between a KE70 and a KE30 conversion is that the KE70 is an AE71 with a K motor rather than the 4AC that the AE71 got. So, if you pull the engine cross-member from an AE71, it will bolt straight up to a KE70. A 4AGE will bolt straight up to the AE71 cross-member.

Hope that helps - sometimes it takes a while before the right person reads your post and responds

I knew the ke70 conversion would be almost the same as a ke30 one, but just wasn't certain on the difference as there aren't as many well documented conversions with the 30, as there are the 70(which i must say there are friggin heaps, an understandable reason people would see this post and think "pfft watadikhed" and ignore it) but I'm a newcomer to the modscene, always been wanting to do up a ke since I got rid of my 70(first car) and now having left work few weeks ago, I have the cash, I have the time and I have a nice little stoko 30, just don't really have the know how.

What of this could I do myself, or is it all just best left to those who know what they are doing(which here in Perth seems to be quite impossible as no business I've contacted have been keen on such a conversion)

End product I'm just looking for a nice street car(everyday driver but with a bit extra power).Putting into consideration my previous vehicle being a v6 vs calais (stock), would i be happy with just a newer 4age 20valve instead of the forced induction of the gze?

Leaning more towards the 4age now after speaking with a conversionist  just as long as it has the power to pop a few skids I'll be happy enough if it's alot easier to get in

As said, this topic has been covered many times before and as for contacts in Perth you may have to search for a while.

An AE71 crossmember will not bolt into a KE30. The easiest thing to do is get custom engine mounts for the 4age which will fit both the GE 16v and the GZE. The 20v requires the holes to be drilled in a different location. If you are interested in 16v mounts, I have a set i bought from Luc (greenmac80) which i have never used and no longer need as i have a second set for a 20v now. You can have them for $100 plus post if you are keen.

Anyway, Back to the topic at hand, A turbo 4age will be the fastest option for you and if you use a 4agze to start with you will be able to run decent boost (12-14psi) without too many hassles

If you can get the engine mounted in the car yourself with the gearbox tailshaft diff e.t.c. then you will be able to get someone to wire it without any problems and this will save you some coin too

You will also need to think about diff upgrade brake upgrade suspension upgrade e.t.c. as these will all be necessary to run a good all round package

I hope that helps to start, see how you go

Cheers - Andrew
