your talking about a car that was first manufactured in 1983, at the time it was considered to be well ahead most cars you could buy off the show room floor for a reasonable price.

what made the car so good was it's over all BALANCE, twin cam engine, 4 wheel disc brakes, RWD configuration, and reasonably good power to weight ratio.

with very little work they could be run in most motorsport events competitively.

 

and now,how many years on, and the're still sort after, not too many cars i know of can lay clam to that.

I haven't in the history of this messageboard heard the work Miata mentioned until just now :D

 

So its definitely new to discussion here

TRD ke70. I'm sure Grimwolge knows that a Miata is an MX5. I think he means that he, like everyone else here, has never heard of Miata/MX5 pistons being used in a 4AGE.

 

As to your description of the Sprinter, remember that the Oz-spec Sprinter was only SOHC, carby-fed, with drums on the rear. However, I'll have to agree with you that the Jap-spec Sprinter was a bit ahead of the pack, though I definitely wouldn't call it 'well ahead of its time'. And plenty of cars are sought after well after their production was stopped. 105-series Alfa, HK-HT-HG Holdens, LC-LJ Toranas, XT-XW-XY Falcons, Datsun 1600's, etc, etc, etc.
