930LLO Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Hey all I'm doing a conversion on my AE92 Sedan. Taking the 4AFC and putting in the 100kw 4AGE, I'm going to try document the whole procedure. Infomation will be greatly appreciated like what parts i need for efi conversion and cooling ect ect just incase I havnt covered all aspects, easier methods to the conversion process would be helpful aswell. I am currently reconditioning the 100kw before the transplant so some advice before I get into it would be great aswell. Thanks Ian Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 efi tank and hardlines, and wiring to suit engine loom radiator out of sx/gti as well as it has the side inlet/out on the drivers side swap the rear brakes from drums to discs, and changes the brake master cylinder to one from an sx/gti for piece of mind swap the front A arms to ones from an sx/gti so you can install a front sway bar. thats pretty much all i can think of atm :y: Quote
930LLO Posted April 6, 2009 Author Report Posted April 6, 2009 Coil pack, surge tank, are the CV's going to be ok aswell? Fuse boxes? Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 (edited) Coil pack, surge tank, are the CV's going to be ok aswell? Fuse boxes? the coil, fuse box, should be part of the engine loom, although i should have said "engine loom with all sensors etc etc" surge tank wont be needed if you use an efi tank out of an fuel injected ae9x are you using you original g/box? if so then you wont need to swap them, maybe just get them recon'ed, or if you not then you can should still be able to use the shafts in another c-series g/box Edited April 6, 2009 by MYSTIK Quote
930LLO Posted April 13, 2009 Author Report Posted April 13, 2009 Ok the 100kw is almost done waiting for rings, the 4afc is just about out kinda hard with the weather. I'm buying a ae82 1987 for the 4age goodies and efi conversion. Here are some pics of my progress. Peace out till next time Ian Quote
930LLO Posted April 13, 2009 Author Report Posted April 13, 2009 Here is the block and the shinny water pump MMMM SHINNY Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 I'm buying a ae82 1987 for the 4age goodies and efi conversion. interesting but you would be much better off with the efi gear from an sx/gti in the ae9x's because its all unbolt of donor car and bolt on to yours :hammer: becaause the fuel tank and lines will be different between the ae8x and ae9x that and the wiring looms are different as well :y: Quote

Could I get a fuel tank from the wreckers? I have already got the car I have all the bits for the 100kw ( Loom, altinator, injection and exaust manifold. ) What else will i need other than a few lines here and there.? Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 (edited) i would say completely different but then i have never compared the 2 tanks. yes you could get a tank and lines from the wreckers as long as its from an efi ae9x model(sedan hatch or seca), and also make sure you get the wiring for the fuel pump aswell :hammer: as they say the right parts from the right job :y: Edited April 15, 2009 by MYSTIK Quote
930LLO Posted April 15, 2009 Author Report Posted April 15, 2009 Sweet as I just got a hook up for a ae93 sx fuel tank with lines and gear. Whats different in the bay anything major? From carbie to efi there would be aye? Thats kinda why i got the ae82 efi Its kicking over but has a dud coil with the 86kw 4age there wouldnt be much of a difference? Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) you know the smallport uses an ignitor not a coil like the bigport. now everything should swap over fine into the carby bay from the efi, so long as its from an ae9x. Hint: much easier to buy a wrecked sx/gti and swap everything over to the other ae92 that way you know you have everything you need :jamie: and my personal way of thinking Edited April 16, 2009 by MYSTIK Quote
930LLO Posted April 16, 2009 Author Report Posted April 16, 2009 Yeah that would be nice but I'm a tight ass and this is the way to go I have the ignigter aswell, this should go as planned. Just put the rings on my pistons they were a bitch, do I have to use a ring compressor to get em inside the bore or can I put em in the way they are compressing them one by one with my supa doopa fingers that are covered in engine oil. 930LLO Posted April 16, 2009 Author Report Posted April 16, 2009 Uh an here is the engine that will be helping with bits. Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 Uh an here is the engine that will be helping with bits. snip well there quite a bit of difference between the engine bays and wiring, see below for pic of an ae93 Quote
930LLO Posted April 17, 2009 Author Report Posted April 17, 2009 HHmmm ok yeah they do look different but I have most of that stuff will only be needing little odds and ends like black pipe and radiator hoses. Ill get some pics of all the gear I have and chuck em up. Quote
