tbo92 Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Hi Guys, have a ke55, 4k 4 speed manual. thought i had a dodgey speedo - so i changed it, how ever it still reads out.. eg doing 50kph it says i am doing 65. doing 60kph it says i am doing 70ish. I know the cable runs down to the gear box. just wondering what would recktify this? i have standard wheels on the car, the only thing that has changed is the height. how ever i couldnt understand why changing the height *lower of course* would make this happen. all the drive line is the same still, i just have blocks in the back of it.. (front is yet to be done? could this bee the issue? the face the rear is lower then the front? (much MUCH lower.... 3" blocks) your imput would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks heaps guys Quote
rsdn Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Hello, I have the same problem as well and i presume it happened after a K50 gbox swap.. check the speedo gears at ur gbox... original k40 speedo gears have 22 teeth and slighter larger compared to K50 which will have only 19 teeth smaller in diameter.. the problem is, the speedo gears are not interchangeable.. Lexxi[ke35] Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 I have this problem too, just trying to look for a speedo gear the right size is impossible. They are interchangable aren't they?? What would be the difference between them that would make them not interchangable?? Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 speedo drive in gearbox. try get 1 or 2 different ones and have a play Quote
Lexxi[ke35] Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Like I said, it's difficult to find any of a different size. I've looked in about 4 different cars, all with the same number of teeth. Quote
