Hello, I have the same problem as well and i presume it happened after a K50 gbox swap.. check the speedo gears at ur gbox... original k40 speedo gears have 22 teeth and slighter larger compared to K50 which will have only 19 teeth smaller in diameter.. the problem is, the speedo gears are not interchangeable..

U r rite..4got 5K had dished pistons... Correct me if I m wrong, 3K head on a 4K block will increase the compression ratio... 3K head, assuming with compression ratio 9.0 CR = (pi/4 * bore2 * stroke + Vc) / Vc Vc = (pi/4 * bore2 * stroke) / CR - 1 = (pi/4 * (7.5cm)2 * 6.6cm) / 9 - 1 = 36.45cm3 Assuming both 3K and 4K has identical piston head and gasket thickness, the combustion chamber volume of the 3K heads stay the same 36.45cm3 4K block matched with 3K head CR = (pi/4 *( 7.5cm2) * 7.3cm + 36.45cm3) / 36.45cm3 = 9.85 Does this mean that I can swap to a 3K head and fix twin carburettor set up like twin webers or twin Sus Thanks.

If u do that u will decrease the compression ratio.... worthwhile coverting if plan to turbocharge or supercharge ur engine.... if not u will end up with low compression and decrease in power...

I m from Malaysia.... Here KE30's did not come with 5 spd... So I had to get a starlet gearbox so that it does not require me to cut holes on the floor... I ll check it out with my mechanic and the wreckers here whether i can get the drive gear with 22 teeth...

Guess that is my problem too.. my speedo is out around 15 percent... is this means if I can get a 22 tooth drive gear, it can solve my problem.. will it fit the other gear inside the gearbox as i presume it meant for the 19 tooth...because my mechanic told me that it might destroy the gear inside the gearbox...how bout the diameter of the drive gears? the K40 was bigger than this K50... I have checked with the mechanic.. we took both the drive gear from the 5spd and 4spd and compared them... they seem to be not in same size... the 5 spd gear drive is smaller and has 19 teeth whereas the 4 spd has 22. Is there any way else to solve this problem... anyone has checked the number of teeth in a 5spd ke70 drive gear.. Thanks!

Hi there everyone, I m from m'sia.... i just upgraded my KE30 to five speed....my problem is the speedometer now.... it is showing more than the normal speed. (i.e i have tested while driving behind my frens car. His showed 70kmh mine 80kmh) and also i have tested the milage on the meter, it does not tally with the actual travelled distance in the highway... the meter shows less ( meter milage: 84-86 km actual distance: 100 km ) what could be the problem? A friend of mine told me that this maybe bcos the car which the gbox came from had miles (mph) speedometer.. Well i have changed the meter and the problem still the same... I have checked my differential and it is u292 6" 4.1 2 pinion. Pls Help......

KE 30 usually weigh some where around 900 to 1000 kg.... Light car!! :evil:

Hi there eveyone... I became an auto theft victim recently.... some smart guy tried to steal my car with a screw driver..... result was he didnt get to steal and i was left with damaged ignition switch(key), door and boot lock... my problem now is, i can't get to start the car bcos the ignition switch is spoiled... i tried removing the switch but it just don't want 2 come out.... my question is, how can i remove the switch? Have anyone tried removing? Pls help. Tnks in advance :evil:

I agree with u jip.... i dun think so KE 70 AC can fit KE 55....... there are plenty of universal unit available in the market, aren't they?? :) :yak:

hi kj, I have rolla ke30 79 model.... ijust fitted my aircon 2 years ago...it is not a big deal actually.. just take ur car to a aircon specialist nad he can install for u a gud wan... make sure to go to a trusted one cos if not u will have to suffer with many wiring malfuntion...and make sure to modify ur carburettor and ur inlet manlifold to add an air-cond switch so that u wont have to tune the car at high rpm to cater 4 the aircond load on ur engine!! ;)
