hey guys,

We are planning on fitting an 18RG into a Ke20. We no they are heavy etc etc, but we are set on fitting one, as we have all the parts an resources to build a 250hp motor.

At the moment is we are trying to work out the best method to mount the 18RG into the crossmember. Are there any standard mounts we can use, or are we going to have to build custom ones??

Wouldn't be able to use the whole member, but might be able to use the mounts from the early "R" series celica (RA22/3 ??)

But you will have to watch the gap between the motor and radiator, cause the motor will have to sit a bit further forwards past the track line between the front wheels. Which in turn will increase the weight over the front wheels. Wouldn't think so but under braking, turning etc the car will understeer easier. I realise in what you've said but its just something else to think about, suspension wise not just brakes

Another thing to remember is that MOST 18RGs have a rear sump to suit the RA2* celicas.

You will need to get yourself a front sump and oil pickup from an 18R-C powered corona (such as RT104, or similar), so that the sump doesnt foul on the KE20 crossmember.

I'm putting a Turbo 18RG into a KE70, and this is something I will have to address also.

You will need to make custom engine mounts, but thats not hard at all really.

Cheers for the input,

I've know all to well about sump troubles, i had enough of the putting a 7ke in my ke55,

I also heard corona (RT/TR) mounts get pretty close to fitting length wise, i've just gotta find a set and do some measuring
