my 3k engine turns over but the lifters are not moving(IE valves)i am thinking brocken timing chain ...at first i thought it was a brocken crank ! but it works on the front pulleys and went you trun the engine over it has heeps of blow back through the air filter,i took the tappet cover off but when she turns over there is NO moving parts up top....

 

any other things i need to look at before pulling here out

If the valve gear isn't operating, then it sounds like a snapped timing chain as you said.

 

Time to strip it down for a look see.
