stx-16 Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 iv been hearing some stuff about taking the shims out of a borgie to make it a bit tighter i just want to know if andone has done this or if someone can tell me the pros and cons of it sorry for spelling i havent sleept all night Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Take the backing plate off your diff and have a look. There's a shim on either (outer) side of the bearings. These allow you to move the crownwheel closer or further away from the pinion by the thickness of them. You need to keep the over shim thicknees the same though otherwise the centre will move side to side. Quote
rob83ke70 Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 have a good look before taking it apart, if the play is in the differential gears not the crownwheel and pinion, you can buy new gears to replace them and take the slop out of them... Robert. Quote
