AXTX Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 Hey Guys, The Story: So I got word through a friend that his mate had a cheap AE71 for sale.... So i told my mate who was looking to buy a car, went and had a look at it and brought her for cheap but had a few problems to fix up, Since it had problems it became more of a 'joint project' on weekends to fix, so this is our build. first drop, the survo to top up the radiator (had a leaky water pump gasket....) filled up 8 liters of water and headed to maccers. History: used to have a 4agte in it, seemd to have a abit of a wild set-up... MODS: ENGINE 4AC that’s been to the moon and back Old shitty sparkplugs No air filter for colder intakes +25 kwz A leaky water pump that sometimes hits the fan and sprays the radiator sort of... like a C02 spray for intercoolers but better because it’s cheap. No Muffler.. louuuuddddd! DRIVETRAIN One big f**koff one piece tail shaft T50 5 Speed Gearbox Welded ae86 diff Decent clutch SUSPENSION AE86 Springs And Struts lowered SemiSlicks TOYO R888 7 wheels dunno specs, they are 13/4” White walls wheels INTERIOR 0.45 cents Dirt No carpet Hidden frangaz Steering wheel covers REAL SHEEPS WOOL (may not be real) Some JDM stickers Elcheapo drift handbrake button EXTERIOR Slant front 3x ns stickers 1x upullit racing stickers Few dent HARDLY ANY RUST Things to fix Water pump gasket needs abig tidy up! < 4A POWAH! AXTX Posted December 8, 2009 Author Report Posted December 8, 2009 UPDATE: 6/12/09 So the 4A is abit low on power and it seems our carby is abit dodgy, So we are going to rigg up a 32/36 webber and see how that goes. we got the Webber today from a tiptop XF Ford. carby looks in perfect condition. I have 2 Questions, How do you wire the Webber up? and what vacume lines go where? *sobs* looks like its going to be a ruff week! if anybody can help please let me know :) Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 Carbs gonna be wayyyy to big for what you want. Look more towards the 32/36's from the 1.6/2.0 escorts/cortina's. Carb is jetted for a 4.0L and your gonna run it on a 1.6L. you do the maths :) Quote
AXTX Posted December 8, 2009 Author Report Posted December 8, 2009 (edited) Hey dude, alot of the guys run this weber on the 4AC and 4K, So it wont be too much of a problem I don't think :) Raceline... or redline.. or some brand that you can get at most auto shops sell the adapter plate so it seems to be quite popular EDIT: Now that i read what you said, Yeah okay I see we got the wrong carby, but, neather the less A good mate on mine who is on here (Mellow) he runs this carby and his ride was sweeeeet as So i hope we don't encounter many problems I'm from woodcroft too snap! I'm more pre *E7* personally. From what i remember David wasnt having much luck with that weber of his. Anyways, run the falcon one and see how you go. But my opinion would be to go for the 1.6/2.0 variant of this carb :) CHEERS Ryan Quote

Haha, kinda makes sense. When i seen it the massive falcon air filter was held on by duct tape :y: But he was in a rush for the cruise. hahahaha I think I remember that, Atm we don't have it wired up and it seems to be going just fine, cold starts and everything.
