greenmac80 Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 stay away from the miata engine. would be a massive waste of time. the kw/per litre ratio is shitehouse. 4age is a much better engine. the honda f20c would be an interesting and i believe rewarding swap! although the engine is quite heavy. quickest would be a 13B rotory on carbs. these little engine have outrageous kw/litre ratios. rolla rookie Posted February 20, 2010 Author Report Posted February 20, 2010 any comment on what to look forward to in as far as mount, wiring, etc? Quote
greenmac80 Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 if you stick with a carbed motor the wiring would be really easy you wouldn't need any cutting or splicing. perhaps bigger fuel pump and suitable wiring. mounts are easy. mock the engine up to where you think it need to be. pick an easy to get and easy to work with rubber mount and make the pieces accordingly out of cardboard and then steel. SLO-030 Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 Since your a Ford man, How bout a 429 BOSS Cammer? :) Quote
rolla rookie Posted February 20, 2010 Author Report Posted February 20, 2010 so it sounds like a rotary may be a real world answer then. light, punchy, reasonably simple from what I'm told with much future potential. (laffin my ass off) as far as a cammer don't tempt me. id have to drive from the rear seat but damn it would be wild. i had seriously looked into a 302 swap, however, after seeing much mutilated crossmembers and fubar-ed steering linkages i decided against it. even so i am still trying to resist the urge lol. my 76 f250 is down from a wiring fire and has a perfectly good y-block just sittin there-------taunting me. and i do like a 390.
