Kid-Ae Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 So, i'm just about ready to go for my P1 license, and i was just wondering... Do i HAVE to have lessons with a driving instructor prior to this? I've been hearing conflicting stories, and there is nothing on the VicRoads website in regards to it. I feel i am ready to go for it, but i cannot afford lessons unfortunately. Thanks guys. Quote
Evan G Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 witch laws you on? 2 years driving no log book or 120 hours log book? Quote
Evan G Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 (edited) its best to go with a instructor a couple of times, because they know what the testers will be looking for and help you lose any bad habits my advice allways do headchecks when indicating look in the mirror when coming to a stop use your mirrors drive like a granny if the vic roads tester feels like your a hoon he'll give you a stink eye followed by a F rock up with a flanny t shirt (anti looking like a tool look as possible) Edited April 25, 2010 by TheNOBBLER No need for racist comments please :) Quote
Evan G Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 also have you booked your P's? because its like a 3month wait (book 2 tests just incase you don't pass and don't wanna wait 3 months) Quote
Kid-Ae Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 They're booked. I'll just keep practising till i get it right. Quote
Evan G Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 just go with a instructor atleast once and he'll tell you if your gonna pass Quote
Kid-Ae Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 Suppose i should. I might get two, then i can also do the test route. Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Highly advise a couple of lessons before you go, it's money well spent. You will be suprised what they pick you up on, I thought I was ready but there were a few things that would have had me loose points very easily. your first lesson will just be making sure you can drive, from there you will get parking and merging with traffic etc. You will get some good gear out of that. Good luck with the lessons and licence test! Quote
Kid-Ae Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 Booking them tomorrow :bash: Thanks dude, it'll be good. As long as i can remember to check my mirrors EVERY time i apply the brakes (possibly the only one i forget to do every time) then ill be alright  Ah i cannot wait to be driving around! Quote
BReNt Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 I went for my Ps in Feb and I also recommend getting at least one lesson with a driving instructor. They let you know if there's anything you're doing wrong and point out all the picky little things that the assessors usually get you for during the test Quote
