Carby Choice

Recommended Posts

Given the inherent ploblem with the stock Aisan carby's running rich due to the floats, I have decided to go down draft Weber.

The question is, which Weber (and jetting) best suits a stock 1.8 3Tc engine. Be mindfull, the aim is maintain factory econmy or better. Sadly performance takes second place... at the moment.

Good old 32/36. Economical primary, guttsy secondary.

The Cortina/Escorts ones seems to be a bit more abundant too.

I was hoping someone would say twin 32 or twin 34 as I already have a 32 DAGV (already on a 3Tc manifold but i'm guessing too small) and a 34 ADFA (off a Fiat spider)

Cheers for the advise.

it appears that a 32/36 is going to be the way to go.

;)

What jet sizes did you choose for the 3TC?

Been looking for baseline jetting sizes for a stock 3TC, but bit of a mix:

For the 32/36 DGAV with the water choke, the baseline settings for a 2.0L ford are:

primary/secondary:

main: 140/140

air: 170/160

idle: 60/50

em tube: F50/F50

Looking at other 1800cc OHV engines from golf, subaru and fiat as a guide:

Bit of a mix, shouldn't be to far off the 2.0L Ford jetting. Just have to experiment.
