Evan G Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 ok ive got my new ke30 clutch cable. upon installing found it being about 3cm to long. so i put a 2cm spacer where the clutch cable goes through the block and meets the clutch fork. all work well for a couple of hours till i got a very grindy/noisy clutch pedal, removed the cable for pedal and inspected it for wear and found it was rubbing against the metal tube that sits inside the gromit that lives in the firewall. so i covered the clutch cable with some really stiff plastic so it doesnt rub/make any noise. re-assemble it. no grinding now its just noisy??????? i wd40 the living poo outta clutch pedal springs/pivot, it still noisy removed the cable and push the clutch in and fine???????/ i found that on top of the clutch pedal where the cable goes its been rubbing on some carpet under the dash? has anyone whos done a manual conversion to a ke55 had any problem like these? cheers (i thought "yea i got a new clutch cable so mite aswell sell the old one to andy" damnit! ill buy it backkkk andy) Quote
altezzaclub Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 removed the cable and push the clutch in and fine Often you need the tension on it to make the noise, so the pivot may be worn but it won't show unless its under stress. Can you get the pivot shaft out, which will also release the pedal, and inspect them both? Quote

philbey Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) Let me just say too, WD40 isn't a lubricant, you probably want a lithium grease on it. You sure it's not the spring making noise? Edited July 14, 2010 by philbey Quote

You sure it's not the spring making noise? 99.93% sure its not the spring, if i remove the cable the noise is gone. its not grabbing anymore, its just noisy. MEHHH I'm over it 1nd and 2nd sound like my reverse gear :P Quote
altezzaclub Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 Hang on Evan... when is it noisy in 1st & 2nd?? Holding the clutch down? somewhere in the letting it up? all of letting it up? all the time when driving ??? Does the noise vary with the amount of pressure on the pedal? Quote
