ReMeNiZ Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 Hey, I've got a 1992 Toyota Corolla Csi Twincam and i need help getting more power and sound but keeping it n/a due to on p's. Would a 3a racing pod fit in the stock air box? If not is there a (write up/tuturial/article/how to) on making a enclosure? Any mods to make it a CAI? If i was to get a whole new exhaust system but with a good looking muffler and tail pipe or cannon what do you suggest? Is there any exterior stuff i can buy for the car like bodykits, lights, wings/spoilers, grills etc? What are the exterior/interior mods for this car? Many thanks, Patrick. Quote
Bugzbarney Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 Welcome to the forums Patrick, Now without sounding like a complete downer, don't do anything to a csi. You Csi would be a 4afe i presume, an engine that isnt particularly modifiable. You best bet would be to keep the csi clean and tidy, eventually sell it and buy a 4age gti/sx corolla. You will make more stock power than you would doing any mods to the 4afe. If you really wanna do a few bits and pieces, get a K&N or BMC washable panel filter for the stock airbox. don't get a cheapo brand and they arent washable/oiled properly, nor do they do much in the way of airflow/ filtration. There are some body kits available, however (imo) they look dodge, but again its not my car. Those kits are on ebay, but i don't remember the other website. Otherwise Putting SX bars onto the car + plus a lip (MX73) will improve the look considerably. Example: The day i got my first car: And the day i sold it: Small yet effective mods. Bugz. Quote
ke70dave Posted July 28, 2010 Report Posted July 28, 2010 heey that mx73 lip looks sweet, not seen that before, i like it. the 4afe isnt a bad engine in standard form, but just remember its a 1.6L economy based engine, though the efi will make it run nicely. if you want to get keen on the engine, a cold air induction will help things a bit, but i wouldnt expect miracles. Bugzbarney Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 Thats not actually a 73 lip that one, I'm not sure what it is, but it is hanging in the shed still i reckon.. Quote

Thanks for the welcome Bugz, I knew i wouldn't be able to do much to a 4afe as its not worth it. What I'm planning to do is to install a muffler+tailpipe or cannon for looks and sound then perhaps get a CAI setup and sell the car to my cousin and find a 4AGE Gti/SX. Would a 3a racing pod filter (best for flow and filtration) fit in the stock air box? if not is there any (write ups/tutorials/articles/how tos) on making a enclosure for it? Any suggestions on a muffler/tailpipe or cannon? Apparently sx bar can be installed on a hatchback corolla. Where can i buy sx bars and what do they look like? Hoping to get this done so i can sell it to buy a GTI/SX. Thanks, Patrick. Edited July 31, 2010 by ReMeNiZ Quote
