boofis Posted September 1, 2005 Report Posted September 1, 2005 (edited) Hey Thought I may aswell post my project as I've joined now. Basically I bought this car to learn about the mechanical side of things. Its my first car and I picked her up for $425. It was in good condition but not really atm. Plans - Warm 4k (Rebuild) :angrybird:, Whiteline sways, re-spray, Rt corona brake upgrade, stripped interior, rims, cut all rust out and NO BOG, lower at front, new rims/tyres, weight reduction :D, yeah the list goes on, but thats the notable stuff. Pics will be up tonight! Thanks Troy Edited November 2, 2005 by boofis Quote
boofis Posted September 2, 2005 Author Report Posted September 2, 2005 Hey Thanks for the welcome, yeah it should be a challenge but I really do dislike bog. And I like bodywork/paint. :D Yeah it's not much to look at atm, but still! lol. Thanks Troy Quote
Super Jamie Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 that's cool, we all had to start somewhere :D  i'd suggest getting some decent shocks and springs and wheel alignment sorted out before you start messing around with swaybars. you're going to have to go short stroke shocks and coilovers with the corona struts, so get the leaves reset and put some matching shocks in the back, and get it on the track and actually see how it handles first  corollas are pretty well balanced from factory, and it's very easy to turn any old toyota into an understeering or snap-oversteering pig with "she'll be right" massive sways. this is what half the celica idiots on toymods do, cos "mate, it cost 300 bucks so it must be good"!  it really depends what you're going to do with the car, if it's just a hot streeter with a bit of weekend short course work like motorkhanas and hillclimbs, you'd probably want to leave it stock. if you're going for high speed track stuff like QR (which you probably aren't with a just a 4K) then i'd say uprated swaybars could be useful. if you're going to be doing offroad rally stuff, that's different again  just a suggestion, and will save you a bit of cash at the start :angrybird:  what color you want to paint it? what wheels and tyres? boofis Posted September 2, 2005 Author Report Posted September 2, 2005 (edited) Hey SJ Thanks for the advice. I'm painting it the same colour because I'm not going to do the engine bay (Thats just rediulous) Wheels and tyres - hopefully something with some dish and some nice tyres (I've got no idea :angrybird: in other words) lol. And pics. I'll link I hope you don't mind. The paper tar war begins... http://img383.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ke5500100017wc.jpg My work space http://img383.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ke55001000114od.jpg And the 3/4 kind of view.
