hi guys i wanted to take the airbox off off my 20v st and realised that the air temp sensor is screwed in the pipe of the airbox, is there anywhere else this can me mounted or screwed into?? any1 have any idea or pics plz?

What are you replacing it with?

Can you just screw it into whatever's going there instead?

 

Have a look at this. I know it's not the same engine or drive but that's the kind of thing I would imagine doing.

Well firstly a question needs to be answered. You say you have a silvertop, are you running an after market computer? blacktop computer?

Usually it does not matter where you put the IAT sensor, it will work even if you put it just in front of the intake. As long as where you put it is

close to the temp that the engine is sucking in it should be fine. Funny though, I don't remember my silvertop having an external IAT so I guess you are running either an aftermarket

computer of blacktop gear.

yeah I'm running an aftermarket ecu my mechanic did the job so i don't know, it looks brand new so maybe it doesnt need to be there, I'm replacing it with trumpets and i don't really want to put iy in one of the trumpets it would look shit.

Zip tie it under one of the sock filters and it'll be fine. Will be the wrong temp when the bay's heat soaked (sitting still), but once your moving and fresh air is flowing under the bonnet it'll read true enough to setup a cold map.

What computer you running?

what will happen if i just remove the air sensor??? I'm running an autronics ecu expensive but worth it...
