heyy guys,

i tried to adjust the points on my ke70 the engine is stock, and now when i accelerate i get a sparking noise coming from the dizzy?

do i need a new distributer?

seccond question: i was trying to adjust the mixture and idle speed on the ke70 and i couldnt go under 1000rpm so i found the problem, it was the idle compensator wasnt sucking back in and there was no vacuum on the lead so i traced the vacuum leads back, and it turned out to be a jet, i put in a straight line conector so that jet is bypassed, and it worked. is this going to affect anything else?

cheers scott

1)- I doubt you need a new dizzy! Check the points gap again carefully, making sure the rubbing block is right on top of the shaft lobe. If the points are burnt they will be hollow on one side and humped up on the other, so setting them with feeler gauges will leave them too far open. That's why a dwell meter is better.

If you set them too far open it will advance the timing and raise the idle, which leads to...

2) It wouldn't go under 1000rpm because its probably too advanced in the timing, so sort out both points gap and timing and see if you can return the carb lines to stock.

Good luck-
