irokin Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 I've just finished (yea right, finished like a project car) some tweaks to the server that should HOPEFULLY make the site a little more snappy. The new software has been driving me nuts with its incredibly poor load times and I've missed the snappy feel of the old version. So far it seems to have improved drastically over how it was performing but not nearly as good as the old software. Let me know if encounter any errors, I'm not anticipating any but you never know. Just had an outage but seems to be good now, didn't think this one was any different to the old speeds. Quote

Yea that was me setting the memory value higher than it could allocate and apache (the web server) crashed  oops! It was about 4 times slower on average, now 'only' 2.5-3 times slower. The raw figures for generating the index page are something like 80ms for the old software on the old server 40ms for the old software on the new server 140-200ms for the current software with no tweaks ~110ms for the current software with the current tweaks If I can get it back down under 100ms I'll be happy...ish.
