SLW42 Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 hello ladies and gents i need a little confirmation on a clutch related subject, I know that when you put your foot on the clutch and it makes a scratchy grindy noise it's usually f@$ked right? My question is when you put your foot on the clutch and it picks up and engages fine but occasionally makes a grinding noise, best off to replace or just adjust more???? Before you guys ask the throw out bearing is rooted too :bash: i tend to think i got a little ripped but these things happen, Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 (edited) Sounds like a throwout bearing. Only part that really only comes into play (and hence shows its condition) when the clutch pedal is depressed. Best off replacing the lot. Gives you a good excuse to get a HD or puk clutch :P Edited November 6, 2010 by SLO-030 Quote
SLW42 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Report Posted November 6, 2010 yeah nah it's more than the throwout bearing man, you know what a rooted throw out bearing sounds like it grinds all the time right??, this noise is a every now again it happens about 10 times a minute at idle, with the clutch depressed and it's a solid grinding/scratching noise Mmmmmmm cushoined button clutch on a k motor  Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 (edited) Go for an unsprung brass button behind a stock 4k. Would be.......interesting. Either the friction or pressure plate could be buggered :hmm: Replace the lot. Just have a real good inspection of the flywheel too, depending on whats actually causing the problems. SLW42 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Report Posted November 6, 2010 cushioned button ftw man still can drive them like a normal clutch and i personally can't see the point of a brass button of even a un sprung brassy  4k what is this 4k you speak of 5k ftw :D Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 cushioned button ftw man still can drive them like a normal clutch and i personally can't see the point of a brass button of even a un sprung brassy  4k what is this 4k you speak of 5k ftw :D Agree, deffinately worth having the cushioning. Exedy don't make and un-cushioned button for K anymore anyway. Quote
SLW42 Posted November 7, 2010 Author Report Posted November 7, 2010 unless my k motor was a god built motor and had like 350hp i will always use a cushioned button, cause my ef had a cushioned button clutch in it, that used to cop 3rd gear clutch kicks and never hassled it, i just can't justify having a brassy in a car that will only end up having boost and a nice cam, it's just silly lol :P :D Quote
