Macca k Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 hey guys, a while back someone was telling me that you can put a 3k head onto a 5k to get a larger compression ratio? truth and know anyone whos done this? Quote
Evan G Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 this will give you WAYYYYYY to much compression 13:1 +++++ (around there) no problem if your running water meth injection Quote
snot35 Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Not entirely true. It depends on the 5k. If you have one with the deep dish pistons then you'll actually decompress it and it should be good for turbo charging. If you have the shallow dish then you'll probably end up with a pretty high ratio, but I don't think it will be ridiculous. The best way to find out is to measure it if you can. Quote
towe001 Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Thats a better answer  What is it, about 9 out of 10 (if its australia) you'll have the 5k with the dished pistons so you'll wind up with a loss of compression. Still be an idea to pull the head and find out. Have a search its been covered with a few photos of the pistons from memory. Quote
brendan Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 I put 3k head on my 5k and had it decked with flat top pistons it runs great doesn't ping since I put twin side draughts on it Quote
