ancullen Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Finally installed a new clutch kit in Lola today, and I can finally change gears again!!! We have also made it easier to change clutches as we have cut some holes in the firewall so we can easily access the top bolts mounting the gearbox to the engine and the starter motor to the gearbox. To do this I ripped the heater out, so we've also lost some weight from the car. I figured while I was doing that I may as well also rip out the passenger and rear seats, and the carpet as well as this was in the way for cutting the holes. Unfortunately we seem to have either blown a fuse or pulled a wire loose while fiddling around with the car, meaning that no power was getting to the fuel pump or spark plugs. However, my father-in-law is going to work on this during the week (as the car is at his house). I'm going to purchase two new tyres on Tuesday (Goodyear Eagle F1's as their cheap but sticky-ish), and on Saturday I will have to make a gasket for the cam/crank angle sensor as the current one is shagged so oil leaks directly onto my extractors (smoky!). Other than these small issues the car should finally be right for racing (on Sunday the 23rd of this month). Unfortunately this will be only the second time I'll have had her out on the track, and this is the last race meet of the year, so I haven't been able to truly enjoy my ownership yet. However next year should be good. Hopefully everything will go to plan this time. [crosses fingers, toes, arms, legs, balls, and gets down and prays like all hell] Quote
