Short Cuts

Went to see a friend who lives about 100kays out of Darwin. He tells me as I'm leaving to "turn left" it's a quicker way to the highway. My mate is a reliable sole, I have no reason to doubt him. So, I turn left.

3 kays into out 9kay short cut I encounter this,

 

 

Then, something a little more challenging and DEEPER!.

 

 

Then somthing that tries to remove my exhaust. (It looked and sounded much worse)

 

 

And just for good measure, another water crossing. This one was particular fun. It was mud and sand around the shallow edges and the only place that had traction was somewhere around the deepest part, the middle. When you can see a bow wave at the front of the bonnet, you MAY have bitten off too much.

 

 

 

8 Kilometers into our epic "shortcut" the road became impassable. I had no choice but to turn around and do it all over again. STRESS!!!.

It's a Corolla, of course it did it again no problems.

 

Oh, and the sealed road that I was keen to avoid for a 9 kay shortcut, turned out it was only 7 kays from the highway. :blush:

 

Anyone else been sent on one of these "shortcuts"?.

That's gold. Love a Corolla that's not afraid of the action. Woulda been well worth it. As if that wasn't fun?

Yeah, it was kinda fun (lots). That annoying voice in the back of your head that keeps saying, "it can't get any worse, keep going".

But the really fun stuff was cleaning the car, again, I'd only washed it 2 days before.
