bachinaminuet Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 Hey, I am currently undergoing a project to get a 4age into an AE71 hightop wagon. The car is completely stock except for some ma61 wheels. This is my first project and i am learning bit by bit how these cars work! Anyway, i have come to a problem in working out the best way to supply the fuel to the engine. Firstly, i know that i need a low pressure-high volume pump from the fuel tank which goes to the surge tank and then to a high volume-low pressure pump which pushes it to the motor. Now, most people have put the pumps and surge tanks in the boot or somewhere hidden, but in wagon where is the best place to put the two pumps and the surge tank so it isn't sitting in the middle of the car :P Cheers Quote
bachinaminuet Posted June 22, 2011 Author Report Posted June 22, 2011 sooo...no answer! hmmm is there a better place to put this to get a faster response? Quote
ke70dave Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 hey champ. sorry i didnt see this thread. top tip: avoid putting ANYTHING fuel related INSIDE the car. most people are lazy, and just bolt it in the boot = dodgy. for your intank pump: http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Tech:Engine/A_Series/Installing_EFI_Lifter_Pump_into_AE86_Fuel_Tank i followed that, works brilliantly. now for your surge tank. you do not need a very big one, mine in my 4age ke70 is only 600ml. its quite small. i bought this one: http://www.tweakit.net/shop/product_info.php?cPath=57_40_29&products_id=126&osCsid=j7r0f8e1cimn4b2fqcddmn7us2 combine that with an external fuel pump (get a small one, bosch 911 puts out 130L/hr, all you need. a few rubber hoses, a bit of ingenuity it will all fit under you car. a dodgy photo of my fuel stuff under my car (a sedan admitedly, but surely there is a simliar spot on the wagon? http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u166/ke70dave/completewithouttank.jpg i shoved it up between the fuel tank and the beam that runs across the car, i took the fuel tank out to mount it. i hope this helps mate. oh and my fuel system has been 100% reliable, 100% silent, and 0% fuel smell in the car! 1 Quote
bachinaminuet Posted November 14, 2011 Author Report Posted November 14, 2011 Thanks dave...sorry it took so long to answer back! I didn't think anyone was going to answer so I didn't look back at the thread...and then forgot about it and then found it again on a google search haha! But cheers, I will let you know how I go, the constant surging after only 100kms is starting to really annoy me Quote
